Erie Ontario Lowlands
There are many sites that you can visit here, one major one is Niagara Falls. On your way to the lowlands from Minerva, you will pass through the Tug Hill Plateau. You have to travel about six and a half hours west to get there but it will be worth it. As you travel toward your destination the land you are traveling on gets flatter and less foresty.
The lowlands boarder the great lakes and extents thirty miles in land from them.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a beautiful place in the Erie-Ontario Lowlands that many people love to visit. People can go on a gondola across the high water falls, that are over 167 feet tall and flow 85,000 cu ft/s. There are three water falls, Horseshoe, American, and Bridal Veil.
Goat Island
Goat Island is in the middle of Niagara Falls between Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls. It is not a place for people to live but it is a place where a lot of tourist visit when they stop by Niagara Falls. It is about 8.5 acres big.
Goat Island was formed when the Niagara River was cut back some and split into two different Falls.
Niagara Whirlpool
The Niagara Whirlpool is in the Niagara Gorge and it formed about 4200 years ago by the upstream erosion of the Niagara Escarpment. It was when the stream made a sharp change in flow direction, 30 ft per second. The whirlpool is about 125 feet deep and some way down stream from the falls.
A fun thing to do when you visit this site is to ride the gondola across the entire whirlpool.
