Carpool parents PLEASE do not drop students in the front drive. The carpool line is located in the west lot. The front drive is reserved for walkers ONLY.
If you come in to pick up your child, you will be asked to sign out your student and wait in the vestibule.
If you are planning to take your students out for a pre-arranged absence please contact the office, or refer to our website under Student Handbook at the bottom of the page.
Make sure Chromebooks are fully charged and at school each day. If the student has a non-working Chromebook it needs to be sent to the office for repair. We are working hard to get them back to the students quickly.
In the event of a 1 or 2 hour delay any before school practices will be cancelled.
Kindergarten Registration is Underway!
Please make sure you have uploaded all necessary documents. This will ensure your child is completely registered. If you already have students in our school please be aware you will need to provide current proofs of residency for any new registrations. Contact Meena Aaditya -maaditya@ccs.k12.in.us for assistance. If your child is turning 5 after August 1, Carmel Clay Schools will require a review process at the building level; before you register.
Free Breakfast and Lunch
Mrs. Ballock, our cafeteria manager and her staff want to remind all families that both breakfast and lunch are free. Children cannot learn on an empty stomach. Let the cafeteria staff take the stress out of your mornings, knowing your children can eat at school.

Info from Nurse Amanda
Thank you to all our MTE families for your continued diligence in monitoring your students for potential COVID-19 symptoms. Please remember prior to every school day, check your students temperature and review the parent screener questions prior to sending your student to school.
In the last 24 hours have you had a fever or chills and/or taken medication for a fever? (If you are unsure, please utilize a thermometer for an accurate reading. A temperature of 100.4 or higher constitutes a fever according to medical professionals)
Do you have Covid-19 symptoms such as new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, unusual sore throat or loss of taste or smell?
In the past 14 days have you been in close contact (within 6 feet for longer than 15 minutes) with a person known/suspected to have COVID-19 and/or have you been diagnosed with Covid-19?
Have you or anyone in your household been tested for Covid-19 and are still awaiting test results?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, or suspect your child is exhibiting symptom(s) of COVID-19, please keep your student home. Your next steps should be to contact the COVID hotline 317-571-4630 AND our School Nurse for further guidance on return to school policies.
Vision Screening:
During the month of March our school will be screening far distance vision for students in grades 1, 3 and 5 and new students to CCS in grades 2 and 4. Near Vision will not be screened this year due to Covid-19. Parents/guardians will be notified if their student needs referral to an eye care professional. Please notify our school nurse, Amanda Snyder RN, if you do not want your student’s vision screened this school year. Vision screening is performed in schools following Indiana Code 20-34-3-12.

Math Pentathalon Update
2021 Tournament Game Selection Announcement
Since December, we have shared with our Pentathlon Family that only 2 out of the 5 MP Games per division will be played at this year's Virtual MP Tournaments to be conducted in May 2021. Although only two of the 5 Games have been selected, we hope that you will still play and enjoy all 5 games since the MP Games were created to develop a diversity of mathematical thinking, Active Problem Solving, and conceptual understanding.
The following two games have been selected at each Division Level based on 3 variables: 1) the combination of both Spatial/Geometric and Computational Reasoning skills; 2) the lower cost of the 2 games to help parents who want to purchase them; and 3) the user-friendly nature of the 2 games being played virtually. We also believe that preparing for 2 MPT games virtually vs all 5, will make it much easier to compete in this year's tournaments.
Division I: Shape-Up and Kings & Quadraphages
Division II: FIAR and Sum Dominoes & Dice
Division III: Contig 60 and Queens & Guards
Division IV: Prime Gold and Fraction Pinball
GAME WORKSHOPS: To feature this year's Tournament Games, workshops are scheduled for the weeks of February 8th and February 15th. More such workshops will be forthcoming throughout February and March.
https://www.mathpentath.org/learning-the-math-pentathlon-program/
HOSTING WORKSHOPS: As mentioned in prior correspondence, we do require that each Pentathlete has a parent or other adult who will assist in hosting the games virtually with another Pentathlete. To help parents with this process we will soon be scheduling workshops that teach parents how to host a Zoom meeting and how to use the "Shared" tool of Zoom with a webcam, phone, or iPad/tablet.
GAME SPECIAL: Since parents will need access to each of the 2 MP Tournament-selected Games, we are offering a Special Package of these games for their own personal use at $26. This includes special detailed virtual directions and shipping costs.
T-SHIRTS: Rather than participation ribbons and medals, we are awarding to ALL participants a Special Edition MP Virtual Pentathlete T-shirt. Soon, we will reveal the design of this T-shirt. This includes direct shipping to each participant. In addition, parents, teachers, and Coaches may also order adult T-shirts when registering their children online.
TOURNAMENT DATES: The link for Dates and Times of our MP Tournaments can be found below.

Keep in mind that students will still play other students at the same grade level and Good Sportsmanship will be a critical criterion of good game-play. However, unlike our In-Person MP Tournaments, this year's virtual Tournaments will offer students the opportunity to play students from other regions of the country.
We look forward to working with you throughout this one-of-a-kind Virtual MP Tournament Season!!
