Building Pathways To Success
Greetings WCES Family!
I hope all is well! We are heading into the 3rd week of 2nd semester! This week we are welcoming back our F2F students! We are happy to see you! Thanks for your support!
Grades have been posted in the Parent Portal. All F2F stduents will recieve a hard copy this this week as well. Virtual student hard copy of report cards are available, if desired. You may make arrangements with your child's teacher for pick up.
SEMESTER 1 REPORT CARDS
Semester 1 report cards have been published via the Campus Parent AND Campus Student portals. All students have access to the portal via ClassLink. Parents that already established a Parent Portal account will be able to review and print their student's report card. Parents without accounts should ask their student to log into Campus Student via ClassLink. Attached here are the steps students may use to access their electronic report cards. Printed report cards will be provided to all F2F students when we return to in-person learning. Virtual student hard copy report cards are available upon request.
All parents should register for a Campus Parent Portal Account. Everything you need as a parent is contained in the parent portal. You can monitor your student's grades throughout the school year, review your child's schedule, pull report cards, update your contact information, register other students within your household, and so much more! Please click the link provided to register.

As a school, our goal has always been to have 100% parent and student signatures. This year we will not have hard copies of this document to send home. However, this year we will be collecting electronic signatures. Please review this document and then complete the electronic google doc form by clicking the link below which will be your signature for this year. You must fill out one form for each child in your household. If you have any questions, please contact our parent liaison, Ms. Sims (simsn@fultonschools.org)

Learning Environment Hardship
All Families have made a 9-week commitment for the learning environment (face-to-face or remote learning). If you selected virtual learning as your student’s learning environment, for the first nine weeks, your students may not attend face to face instruction. Similarly, if you have selected face to face instruction as your student’s learning environment, for the first nine weeks, your student may not attend virtually. If you did not complete the election survey, your election for the first nine weeks defaulted to your Semester 1 election. However, unforeseen circumstances may warrant a change in the learning environment. Attached you will find the Learning Environment Hardship to be completed if such circumstances arise. Please complete the Learning Environment form and email it back to Mrs. Canty (cantya@fultonschools.org) at your convenience. A student’s learning environment (face-to-face or remote learning) may not be changed without approval. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Boosterthon Dance Fit ...Coming Soon!
Wolf Creek families,
We are excited to kick off our Wolf Creek Dance Fit program on February 2nd. Due to current Health and Safety precautions, students will participate in a Boosterthon Dance Fit challenge this year instead of the typical FunRun challenge. This event is for all students, Virtual and F2F.
Donating will open today, January 19th.
We have 3 goals for this year's program:
1. Bringing our school community together for some FUN!
2. Inspiring our students to be active and activate their character building.
3. Raising funds to support our school’s needs
We are so excited for the Wolf Creek Dance Fit. We will bring our school together for eight days of celebration, fun, and nightly challenges as we work towards helping our school raise $20,000.
Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide an excellent educational experience for all our students. And this year, we need more support than ever.
We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at funrun.com. Sharing IS supporting!
Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our school’s current guidelines. We’ll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off.
Key dates to remember:
- Donating Opens - 1/19
Register on FUNRUN.COM, SHARE, & GIVE!
- Fundraiser Kick Off - 2/2
- Event Day - 2/11
We are grateful for our Wolf Creek family! Thank you for your support this year.
The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services. The gifted teacher routinely reviews available data to refer students for further assessment.
Students meeting either the automatic screening OR the classroom screening criteria AND have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for additional testing to determine gifted eligibility.
#1: Automatic Screening: Identifies students who score at specified levels on a norm-referenced test as defined in the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services, for further assessment to determine eligibility for gifted services. During each school year, TAG teachers review existing test data as outlined below.
• Grades K-9: o Students must score in the 90th percentile or greater on the Fall 2020 administration of the system’s iReady assessment for Reading or Mathematics. Supporting data is needed.
• Grade 10: o Students must score in the 90th percentile or greater on the Fall 2020 administration of the system’s iReady assessment for Reading or Mathematics. Supporting data is needed. OR o Students must have an overall cumulative average of 95 or greater. Supporting data is needed. OR o Students must score in the 90th percentile or greater on the critical reading section or the mathematics section of the October administration of the PSAT. Supporting data is needed.
• Grades 11-12: o Students must meet the scaled score cutoff for Reading or Mathematics as set by the county. This cutoff is based on the 90th percentile or higher of scaled scores at 11th and 12th grades for the Fall 2020 iReady administration. Supporting data is needed. OR o Students must have an overall cumulative average of 95 or greater. Supporting data is needed. OR o Students must score in the 90th percentile or greater on the critical reading section or the mathematics section of the October administration of the PSAT. Supporting data is needed.
#2: Classroom Screening: Local schools select a two-week period in the spring semester to review all students in the school in grades K-11. Classroom teachers use the Characteristics Instrument for Screening Students (CISS) to identify students with superior abilities in five or more of the following areas: motivation, interests, communication skills, problemsolving abilities, memory, inquiry, insight, reasoning, creativity, and humor.
#3: Reported Referrals: All reported referrals (parent, teacher, and/or administrator) are completed through the two system-level screening and referral processes each year. All referrals are first reviewed by the local TAG Eligibility Team to consider if existing information warrants a formal testing for gifted eligibility. Additional Information: Students who meet either the automatic screening OR classroom screening criteria AND who have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for gifted placement testing. Parents may request to view their child’s screening results by reaching out to their school’s gifted contact.
Once referred to testing:
• Parents receive the Parent Notification for Testing Consent Form.
• Student is tested for the gifted program.
• Parents receive test results.
• If state eligibility is determined, students are placed in the gifted program with parental consent

Fulton County Schools/Fulton County Board of Health Parent (Student) COVID-19 Reporting Portal
Many of the students in Fulton County Schools (FCS) will begin the return to full face-to-face instruction on October 14, 2020. For this cautious return to face-to-face instruction, a number of changes were implemented to ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors. Among the most vital of these changes is the development and introduction of a new electronic FCS COVID-19 Reporting portal for parents. This electronic reporting process will allow for a more direct reaction from primarily the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) with support from FCS to promptly respond and address student/family cases of COVID-19.
Working in collaboration with FCBOH officials, this secure system allows parents/guardians to notify the district and FCBOH of a COVID-19 risk involving their student(s). The system takes the reporting parent/guardian through a series of questions that they must answer, and that information submits directly to Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) personnel who will initiate the COVID-19 case investigation. Once received, the FCBOH public health team will:
- contact, case investigate, and follow-up directly with parents and students
- work in collaboration with Fulton County Schools’ Health Services team and share essential information so the district can take the appropriate action to respond and contain any COVID-19 risks to the school staff and other students
- provide the parent/guardian (student) direction regarding testing, self-isolation, quarantine, or the need for additional medical care
The following are the categories that we are asking parents/guardians of FCS students to submit a COVID-19 report – if the student:
- has tested positive for COVID-19
- is waiting for the results of a test for COVID-19
- has been in direct contact (within 6 ft for 15 minutes or more) with someone diagnosed with COVID-19
If any of the above categories apply to the student, the reporting parent/guardian will be prompted to fully complete the report to FCBOH. If the student does not meet the above criteria for submitting a FCBOH report, but is not feeling well or is ill, parents/guardians will be directed to notify their personal healthcare provider. The reporting portal should not be used to garner a medical diagnose of symptoms or illness.
The following are guidelines to access the new portal and additional information about expectations:
- The portal can be accessed by using a communicated link and/or a QR code via a mobile device.
- Once accessed, the parent will be asked to complete questions about the report (i.e. – student’s name, school, grade, testing information, etc.).
- The information will be sent to and received by public health officials who will contact the parent submitting the report directly to follow-up, investigate, and provide guidance.
- The public health team will communicate pertinent recommendations, guidance, and follow-up with the FCS Student Health Services Team.
- The Student Health Services Team will share information with district leaders/principals as deemed appropriate to ensure the appropriate district response
- Depending on the severity of the reported case after the investigation, the district will respond as noted in FCS COVID-19 Response Plan/Closure Matrix.
