The First Couple of Weeks of School
For a child to learn they first need to feel as though they belong. At WECC we take pride in the relationships that we build and the sense of community that is built within each classroom. On a typical year we usually spend several weeks really getting to know each and every student. Curriculum is slowly folded into the day as children learn the routines and procedures of school.
Learning virtually is no different. The first few weeks of school will be spent with many activities for teachers to get to know your child and to teach them the routines and procedures of live or asynchronous instruction. For example what do I do if I have a question? How do I mute my Zoom meeting? How do I draw a line with my mouse? Where do I find my daily planner? How do I submit something to my teacher? etc.. To accommodate this teachers may need to shift some of your small groups and/or change groups frequently to build community or complete special activities. Your child's teacher will communicate any changes with you in advance.
