MEET THE TEACHER

As a reminder, Meet the Teacher is Tuesday morning August 17th. We are excited to have our students back for another year of learning and fun. We understand that many parents will be coming to Meet the Teacher prior to heading off to work. In order to provide a safe opportunity for all we are going to kindly ask families to assist us in the following ways:

  • Families with their last name beginning with the letters A-K attend between 8:30-9:00
  • Families with their last name beginning with the letters L-Z attend between 9:00-9:30
  • Please limit the number of family members attending Meet the Teacher
  • All individuals entering the school building must wear a mask
  • All individuals will self-certify by initializing next to their child's name on the class list that will be posted.
  • Families may enter through the main entrance, door #3 or door #8.
  • This is an opportunity to drop off supplies, any necessary forms, and briefly meet the teacher. Please remember conferences and curriculum nights are at a later time.
  • Classrooms will have a designated spot for forms that need to go to the school office.
  • Meet The Teacher ends at 9:30 and all staff will need to attend meetings at 9:30

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

On Wednesday, the 18th, classroom teachers will be lined up on the blacktop. Please have your child look for their grade level and teacher name. Teachers will walk students into the classroom to prepare for another day of learning. Any parents that need to come into the school for any reason must enter through the main office.

Lunch Supervisors and Program Assistants Needed

Our school and district are currently looking for lunch supervisors and program assistants. I have attached an informational flyer. If you are interested in this opportunity please reach out to our assistant principal, Theresa Drogos.

School Hours

Our school day begins at 8:40 a.m. and ends at 3:25 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday, our school day ends at 2:35 p.m. Supervision in the morning begins at 8:35 a.m. with staff outside ensuring students are able to enter the building safely. Our kindergarten morning session runs from 8:40-11:20 Monday through Thursday, and on Friday their day ends at 10:55 a.m. Our afternoon sessions begin at 12:50 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and on Friday the afternoon session begins at 12:25 p.m.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

We have specific procedures for morning drop-off that we are asking our families to follow. This will allow our process to run smoothly and provide safety for our students. Supervision begins at 8:35 a.m. in the morning. We ask that parents that are driving pull their car all the way forward to allow other cars into the drop-off line. Students should have all the items with them and be ready to exit the vehicle once you pull into the drop-off line. Students should exit on the sidewalk side of the lot. Students in K-2nd grade will enter through door 3, and students in grades 3 - 6 will walk to door 8 and enter through that entrance.

Dismissal (Pick-Up Procedures)

If your child is walking they will begin their journey home once the dismissal bell has rung. If your child is being picked up through the car lane, they will line up alphabetically. Parents should have their name plate in the front window for the staff to see. Once the parents pull into the parking lot, the staff will call the last name through the walkie and the students will come to the vehicle. We ask that you pull your vehicle all the way forward to allow for more cars to enter the pick-up line. Once our buses are dismissed we will open the bus area, which is known as Lane 2. Vehicles will be directed to pull into this area and students will be directed to go to Lane 2 to meet their ride. We ask you to be mindful of others by pulling your car all the way forward and follow the directions from the staff members that are on duty.

D15 RETURN TO LEARN, RECONNECT, AND RE-ENGAGE PLAN

While the planning and preparations to meet the state’s guidelines are challenging, we are so grateful to have the opportunity to reopen our schools. Thank you for your ongoing support through this pandemic. You have my commitment that our 2021-22 Return-to-Learn, Reconnect, and Re-engage Plan will place the safety of staff and students at the forefront of our planning efforts.

Please read our latest D15 eNews for the most recent Return-to-Learn and COVID update information.

CHROMEBOOKS FOR GRADES 3RD AND 4TH GRADE STUDENTS

We are excited that our 3rd and 4th grade students will get Chromebooks on the first day of school. Many times these devices will travel to and from school with their different assignments. At the end of last year, students took their cases home. If your child is in third or fourth grade, please have them bring their cases back to school the first day of school.

BREAKFAST FOR STUDENTS

This year students in District 15 will be provided breakfast. This will be a grab and go type breakfast in our cafeteria. We will begin providing breakfast at 8:25 until 8:40. Students will be dismissed to their classes at 8:35. Only students wanting breakfast will be able to enter through door #7 at 8:25. All other students will be allowed into our school at 8:35.
