Message from Nurse Natalie
Hello Carver Families!
On November 7, 2019, 7th grade students completed a state mandated hearing and vision screen. "Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-273, Vision and Hearing of Student to be Tested; Exceptions. The Code of Virginia requires that the principal of each public elementary school, middle school and high school shall cause the vision of students enrolled in kindergarten, grade two or three, grade seven and ten to be tested"
If your student did not pass their hearing or vision screen you will be receiving a letter in the mail from the school nurse. If you have any questions or concerns about the letter or you do not have a means for medical follow up, please call your school nurse, Natalie Galarza,RN,BSN at (804) 524- 2620.
If your student is not in grade 7 and you are concerned about their hearing or vision, please follow up with their primary care doctor and/or a vision or hearing medical specialist. It is recommended that a person no matter their age have their hearing and vision screened every 2-5 years. Depending on the cause both vision and hearing loss can be preventable. Early detection and early intervention help reduce the risk of permanent hearing and vision loss.
Thank you and BE WELL-
Nurse Natalie

Carver Middle School is looking to launch our own WATCH D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) organization. This organization will be comprised of dads, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, and any other male role models in the lives of our students. We want our WATCH D.O.G.S. to volunteer their time in our school to better enhance the learning experience for all of our students, teachers, and staff. We will take any time you have to be in our building and be an additional presence of support for our school. If you are interested, please reach out to Mr. Nathanial Wiedenhoft at nathanial_wiedenhoft@ccpsnet.net or at 804-524-3620 extension 144.
