PreK

Over the next few weeks, we will explore things that move. We begin this theme by learning ways we can move our bodies and thinking about positions of objects around us. We will focus on the letter Uu this week and continue to review numbers and counting. -Mrs. Vasquez

This week in Pre-K C we are learning the letter U, all about shapes, and we are exploring nature. Ms. Ingroum

This week in Pre-KB we are learning; the letter U, reviewing numbers (1-5), reviewing colors (red, green, yellow, white), reviewing shapes (square, diamond, triangle, rectangle). Let’s have a great week!!!-Ms. Bateman

Kindergarten

Please remember to send a water bottle daily. In ELA this week we are continuing to work on digraphs (2 letters that come together to make one sound). EXAMPLES: sh, ch, th, ph, wh, Words to know for this week are: could, now, then, this The sight word flash cards that were sent home will be tested at the end of the nine weeks. If you need an extra copy please let your child's teacher know. These are words that we have covered from the beginning of the year till the end of the year. In Math we will continue working on subtraction to10. In Social Studies we will be working on consumers and producers, wants and needs, goods and services. Science: Plant and animal characteristics. Our end of the year Map testing will be the week of 4/19-4/23. We hope that the kids enjoy their Friday off. Happy Easter!!!-The Kindergarten Team

1st Grade

We are working on words with -or. Please continue to practice reading sight words and read for 20 minutes each night. The sight words are found in Monday's foundational skills folder. In math we are starting our unit on fractions. In social studies we are learning how communities have changed over time. In science we are learning plant parts and their functions.--1st Grade Team

2nd Grade

Math- We will be continuing our topic over multiplication and division. We will learn how to multiply by joining equal groups. Please make sure that if your child is absent for any reason, they need to go back and complete their exit tickets and any homework that they may have missed for that day. This is the last quarter, so let's finish strong! Please make sure that your child is logging in on time every day. -Ms. Lester

ELA-This week we will be working on spelling words with the o, aw, al sounds. We will be reviewing and practicing how to summarize a passage. We will finish unit 8 this week and take the end-of-unit CBA #8 Test. Please make sure to have students read for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown

2A/2C ELA- This week we will finish up Module 8: Time to Grow and take the CBA 8 on Friday. Our main focus is the vowel patterns aw, au, and al. Our story of the week is “Don’t Touch Me!” We will continue to learn about irregular action verbs and publish our final draft of our procedural text on “How to Make Slime!” I will be testing your child’s reading level this week. Please be present and on time every day! -Ms. B.Martinez

This week students will be applying what they have learned about basic needs, environmental effects, and food chains to review and take their CBA. Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher.-Mrs. A. Martinez

3rd Grade

This week in 3rd grade math we are learning about time, capacity, and volume. Please check Class Dojo for reminders about assignments and study materials. We have 9 weeks till our STAAR test! Let's keep working!! -Ms. Curtis

ELA-This week we will be working on spelling words with the rule "change the y to an i". We will be reviewing and practicing story structure and how to summarize a passage. We will finish unit 8 this week and take the end of unit CBA #8 test. Please remind students to read for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown

4th Grade

4B will be doing a writing camp next week to prepare for the writing test on the 6th (in-person students) and 13th (online students) of April.-Ms. Swanner

We are starting our new unit on measurement! This week we will be using a formula to find perimeter and area.-Ms. McCaig

This week students will be continuing their unit on the Earth. We will be studying resources and reviewing for their CBA. Please make sure all STEMscopes assignments are completed and turned in! Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher. -Mrs. A. Martinez

5th Grade

In science, this week, we will be working on 5.2(D) in which the students are expected to analyze and interpret information to construct reasonable explanations from direct (observable) and indirect (inferred) evidence.

In social studies, this week, students will be working on 5.4(B) in which the students are expected to identify and explain how changes resulting from the Industrial Revolution led to conflict among sections of the United States and ultimately the Civil War.-Mr. Walton

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians! We are continuing our unit on data analysis this week. Students will use various data representations to solve 1 and 2-step problems. The graphs include bar graphs, dot plots, stem and leaf plots, and scatter plots.

Please make sure your child is completing their exit tickets and joining the live zoom as our STAAR test is quickly approaching. Thanks for all you do! -Ms.Piscacek

We made it through the first week of Quarter 4. In Reading, we are finishing up Lexile Level testing to determine your students' growth in Reading since the beginning of the year. Please continue to check your dojo, I will be sending out results this week. We are continuing to prepare students for the upcoming final STAAR test. This week we are covering the author's purpose, text structure, comparing and contrasting paired text, and STAAR reading testing strategies. Please encourage your student to sign on to zoom on time with their camera on and faces showing on zoom. Students must turn in assignments in a timely manner. There is no school this Friday. Attendance is very important and together we will finish this last quarter strong! -Mrs. Dunford
