Fall 2020 Residence Life & Housing Information

Your Health & Safety Matters
As you have probably heard, we are currently working with a few positive COVID-19 cases on campus. Please know that we take these cases seriously. Residence Life is following the protocols set in place which includes:
working closely with Health Services
moving students to quarantine/isolation spaces
connecting students to resources (counseling, academic success center, dining services, etc.)
Students will be notified by Health Services if they are considered a “close contact” of an individual who has received a positive COVID test result. Health Services will advise the students on what the next steps are. Health Services remains in direct contact with the City of Worcester Department of Public Health for consultation, guidelines, and instruction. Due to privacy reasons, we are limited in the information that we can share with the Worcester State community, but please be assured that we are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our students.
It is important that during this time, we continue to maintain our community standards around COVID as the health and safety of our community remains our top priority. We ask that you continue to practice social distancing, washing your hands and maintaining your hygiene, wearing your masks, and completing your mandatory weekly testing in Wasylean Hall, Seven Hills lounge.
The hours of the COVID testing center are as follows:
Monday - Thursday: 8am - 6pm
Friday - 8:30am - 11:30am
It is important that you report your daily symptoms through the CoVerifed app. Should you have symptoms as stated by the CDC (Symptoms of Coronavirus), please contact Health Services 508-929-8875 to discuss your symptoms.
You are encouraged to join the weekly campus wide COVID briefings sponsored by the President’s office on Fridays at 9:30am - You can join us by clicking on this link to join the Zoom meeting https://worcester.zoom.us/j/99992614073?pwd=d3E0NDlQUFJVdGZHL2Vtak5lUnJRUT09
Additionally, the Residence Life Zoom Help Desk will be monitored Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm. Please feel free to log on at any time and someone will answer your questions.
Any questions about COVID testing and/or the Co-Verified App, please contact:
Paul Vernucci, Director/COVID-19 Response Manager
(508) 929-8908
WEEKLY COVID Testing is MANDATORY FOR RESIDENTS
We will be testing all residential students on a weekly basis, through the Broad Institute. Residents will use the Co-Verified App to schedule their weekly test and no more than 7 days should pass between tests.
Testing is a mandatory requirement, on a weekly basis and every resident should have already been tested at Check In to the residence halls.
Symptom Tracking is also a mandatory requirement on a daily basis. Each resident should report any new symptoms. Residents should not report symptoms that are considered "their normal" - for example, seasonal allergies, migraine, etc. Doing so may result in a false restriction to campus. If you have no new symptoms, please choose "no new symptoms".
Contact Tracing will only have to be used if you are exhibiting symptoms. At that time, you will be asked to use the Contact function on the CoVerified app.
If you are unsure what to attribute a symptom to, then you should report it. Instructions for using the app, and accessing the web browser version (https://web.coverified.us/login) are available below.
FLU VACCINE CLINIC
Health Services will be hosting Auburn Pharmacy for a Flu Vaccine Clinic on Friday, 9/25/2020, from 12:00pm- 2:00pm.
This will be held in the Health Services Office in Sheehan Hall. This clinic will be open to any Resident student at WSU-undergraduate/graduate.
Please call Health Services at 508-929-8875, to schedule an appointment.
Auburn Pharmacy will bill your Health Insurance Company for the vaccine. Please check with your Health Insurance Company regarding coverage for the vaccine prior to the clinic day.
Please bring a paper copy of your Health Insurance Card with you on the day of the clinic. You will be required to bring a completed Flu Vaccine Consent Form with you on the day of your appointment.
Health Services will provide more information about this form when you schedule your appointment.
Any questions, please call Health Services at 508-929-8875
PARKING DECAL PICK UP DEADLINE
The deadline to pick up and pay for your approved parking decal is TOMORROW. If you fail to pay and pick up your decal by tomorrow, Friday, September 18th your decal may be released and given to another resident.
All residents that have been approved for parking, must park in their designated parking locations.
The following descriptions detail exactly where you have been approved to park:
RG decals park in the Parking Garage only.
RC decals park in the Dowden Lot only.
Note: Wasylean Lot (B) is reserved for staff, adjunct faculty and food services.
Beginning Sunday September 20th 2020, any vehicles without a proper parking decal or parked in unapproved areas will be subject to being cited and/or towed at the expense of the owner.
Need something fixed?
Here is the simple process you will take to let us know:
1. Submit a work order in MYHousing under MORE TASKS
2. Complete the form, as requested. Be sure to include all information so that we can accurately reflect your request on the work order to facilities.
* If your outlet doesn't work - which outlet? Left or right side? Behind bed or under desk? More detail the better.
* If its a lightbulb in the hallway - which light? Does it flicker or it's just out?
3. Once you complete the Work Order Request, Residence Life will communicate with facilities regarding your concern.
4. Facilities will let Residence Life know when (60 minute window, date and time) they will come to fix the problem.
5. Residence Life will invite all residents of the affected space through your google calendar.
It is imperative ALL residents of that space have vacated the space during this time, as Facilities staff cannot enter your room while you are present. Please plan to be gone before they arrive.
Please note: If you or any of your roommates fail to leave for this time period, Facilities will not enter and your work order will be put hold and not completed.
