Hello ZCMS Families!

Principal Johnson here. I want to share a few updates with you:

Middle School Band/Orchestra Concert - Thursday, December 1st

The band and orchestra students from both Shiloh Park and ZCMS will be performing this Thursday, December 1, at Christ Community Church from 6:00 - 8:15 p.m. (2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion) Everyone is encouraged to attend! The band and orchestra have been practicing hard for their performance, and we are proud of them for being able to do so in front of our community.

Boys Basketball (Pictured)

Our boys basketball team traveled to ZBTHS for an exhibition game against Beach Park Middle School. While we did not win the game against a talented Beach Park squad, our students represented themselves well through their play and attitude. It was a close game and encouraging to see their level of teamwork before the season officially starts. Our full boys basketball season begins in late January. Thank you to coach Sanni for getting our team ready to play!

Girls Basketball

Our girls basketball team played their first game against Miguel Juarez yesterday here at ZCMS. For many of our girls, it is their first time playing an organized sport. The girls also represented both themselves and our school well. They will be playing Shiloh Park next week. Good luck to our girls on their season!

Project-Based Learning (Pictured)

Our students have been incorporating learning through projects and teamwork this year. Students in Mrs. Taylor-Pipes class worked together to create pictures demonstrating their knowledge of various indigenous tribes of North America. Students used their writing and research skills to develop questions to educate their peers.

Student Celebrations

Every week, we have a raffle to celebrate students showing good behavior in school. Our students have been doing very well following classroom expectations. This month, we have been focusing on showing thanks and turning in high quality assignments.

Zion Elementary School District 6 students are the best students. Families, I appreciate your support of our students and school.

Aquí el director Johnson. Quiero compartir algunas novedades con usted:

Concierto de Banda/Orquesta de la escuela intermedia: Jueves 1 de Diciembre

Los estudiantes de banda y orquesta de Shiloh Park y ZCMS se presentarán este Jueves 1 de Diciembre en Christ Community Church de 6:00 p. m. a 8:15 p. m. (2500 Dowie Memorial Drive en Zion) ¡Todos están invitados a asistir! Han estado practicando duro para actuar y estamos orgullosos de ellos por poder hacerlo frente a nuestra comunidad.

Baloncesto Masculino (en la foto)

Nuestro equipo de baloncesto masculino viajó a ZBTHS para un juego de exhibición contra la escuela secundaria Beach Park. Aunque no ganamos el juego contra un equipo talentoso de Beach Park, nuestros estudiantes se representaron bien a través de su juego y actitud. Fue un partido muy reñido y alentador ver ese nivel de trabajo en equipo antes de que comience oficialmente la temporada. Nuestra temporada completa de baloncesto masculino comienza a finales de Enero. ¡Gracias al entrenador Sanni por preparar a nuestro equipo para jugar!

Baloncesto femenino

Nuestro equipo de baloncesto femenino jugó su primer partido contra Miguel Juárez ayer aquí en ZCMS. Para muchas de nuestras niñas, es la primera vez que juegan un deporte organizado. Ellas también se representaron bien a sí mismas y a nuestra escuela. Jugarán contra Shiloh Park la próxima semana. ¡Buena suerte a nuestras niñas en su temporada!

Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos (en la foto)

Nuestros estudiantes han estado incorporando el aprendizaje a través de proyectos y trabajo en equipo este año. Los estudiantes de la clase de la Sra. Taylor-Pipes trabajaron juntos para crear imágenes que demostraran el conocimiento de las diversas tribus indígenas de América del Norte. Los estudiantes tuvieron que utilizar sus habilidades de escritura e investigación para desarrollar preguntas para educar a sus compañeros.

Celebraciones Estudiantiles

Cada semana, tenemos una rifa para celebrar a los estudiantes que muestran buen comportamiento en la escuela. A nuestros estudiantes les ha ido muy bien siguiendo las expectativas del salón de clases. Este mes, nos hemos centrado en mostrar agradecimiento y entregar tareas de alta calidad.

Los alumnos del Distrito Escolar de Zion 6 son los mejores estudiantes. Familias, agradezco su apoyo a nuestros estudiantes y la escuela.
