A Message from the Principal

Hi Parents! We want to know how CDL is going for your child. Fill out the survey to provide feedback and share positives of distance learning. Thank you to all who have already provided such positive praise to our staff. Thank your for your empathy and care for our staff.

Library Books and Chromebooks

We need your help!

Please search for overdue and lost items: library books, textbooks from last school year and school-issued devices (iPads, Chromebooks) that your student isn’t currently using. Search your in-box, too, for any emails from noreply@intouchreceipting.com or do-not-reply@nwresd.k12.or.us, which will indicate that your student has a missing item.

Then return that item to any BSD school. At Hazeldale, we have one bin for library books and one bin for chromebooks outside the main office. Simply place your items in the bin. The bins will be out each day from 7:30 - 4:00.

Walk + Roll Snowflake Hunt

This month Beaverton Safe Routes to School invites your school community to go on a Snowflake Hunt! To participate make a snowflake and place it in a window facing the street and then go for a walk and count how many snowflakes you find. We hope this provides your family with a fun activity and a little encouragement to get outside for a walk or roll. Use the link below for a snowflake making tutorial and make sure your trip is counted in the following ways:

1. Send an email to bsdsaferoutes@gmail.com with the number of snowflakes you found. BSD students (or parents) please include how many students participated and what school they are from.

2. BSD elementary students can also log their miles on their Marathon Kids account. If you need information on how to set up a Marathon Kids account, contact your PE teacher.

3. Post a photo to social media with the following hashtags #BSDsaferoutes #BSDtogether #BSDmarathonkids

***Reminders and Repeats***

Immunization Reminder

If you received an immunization letter, do not wait until the last minute to make your appointments to get immunizations. The clinics may be bombarded this season with the pandemic.

Read our Hazeldale Library newsletter to learn all about how to get books during CDL.

Reminder: You must wear a mask at all times when you get books.

Parent Conferences and Communication

This year the calendar adjustments to accommodate remote learning have shifted how learning time is used. The District chose to keep student-contact days instead of setting aside two non-student learning days so that parent teacher conferences could occur at the elementary level. Weekly embedded Student Family Connection time in school schedules is intended to allow for regular opportunities for educators and families to communicate. Students do best when parents can support student learning through engaging in two-way communication with educators to support learning.

Childcare Subsidy

Washington County has secured a grant through the federal CARES Act to provide child care subsidies to parents/guardians. The Beaverton School District will be distributing approximately $2.4 million to families who are eligible and apply for these subsidies. In other words, if you pay for child care, you could be eligible to receive money to help cover some or all of your expenses. Employees who live in the Beaverton School District attendance boundary are eligible. This is a taxable benefit and will be processed through payroll. Read more: https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/child-care-subsidy

If you live in another school district in Washington County, you’ll need to apply through that district. If you live outside of Washington County, check with your county office to see if a similar program is being offered.
