Weekend Highlights
Our school recently emailed a TEXTBOOK COLLECTION notice to the parents of our students. Please carefully review the email(s) sent this past week prior to Monday, May 3rd to be aware of the date/time(s). Also, next week is Teacher Appreciation Week and our Community Club parents have planned a wonderful set of events to recognize our teachers. If you would like to "Thank-A-Teacher" or more, then you may post a note of gratitude onto this moderated Padlet HERE. The following is a brief overview of this month's time-sensitive activities:

Our health office is asking parents to be sure their child's immunizations are up to date. For more information on the required immunizations for school (i.e., in-person learning), click HERE. An overview of the month of May:
- May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the United States to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843, and to mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. The majority of the workers who laid the tracks on the project were Chinese immigrants.- May is Older Americans Month, established in 1963 to honor the legacies and contributions of older Americans and to support them
- May is Jewish American Heritage Month, which recognizes the diverse contributions of the Jewish people to American culture.
- May is Mental Health Awareness Month (or Mental Health Month), which aims to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illnesses
May 1: Beltane, an ancient Celtic festival, signifying the beginning of summer.
- May 2: Orthodox Easter (also called Pascha), a later Easter date
- May 3-7: Teacher Appreciation Week!
- May 5: A day to commemorate the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. This day celebrates Mexican culture and heritage.
- May 6: National Day of Prayer, a day of observance in the United States
