Franklin Elementary

Congratulations to the first winners of the attendance trophy! These classes had the best attendance through September 9. Way to go!

Thank you to the Boone Fire Department for teaching kitchen and fire safety to the 9th-12th grade food & nutrition classes. Students learned how to prevent kitchen hazards, what to do in case of a kitchen fire, and how to safely use a fire extinguisher if needed. It was a great day of hands-on learning for our students.

Ice Melt Challenge!

Chemistry Students using random found objects or ones they were provided to melt ice in record time. Some had really good objects to use, such as a hot plate, others had things like bowling balls and funnels. The objective is using their current understanding of science, creativity, and teamwork for a common goal!

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month —a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.

If you are uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can chat the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988lifeline.org.

Check out the most recent magazine article from National Trailers Manufacturers on our internship program with Boone EDGE and Lane Trailers.

This would not be possible without great partners AND great instructors in welding and the trades. Thank you Logan Messenbrink, Josh Atwell and Jim Fitzgerald. These teachers build the foundation for these students to be able to be successful with our local partners.
