8. NEW COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance . . . .For those of you who closely follow the guidance that we receive from the health organizations (Centers for Disease Control, State Department of Health and the Hancock County Health Department), we did receive updated guidance a week ago. This guidance makes allowances for schools to bring students and staff back from exclusions quicker than the conventional time frames. This includes individuals who have tested positive and individuals who have been identified as close contacts. You may reference these changes on our website. We began to implement these options with our staff this week, and we will roll out the changes with our student population starting January 18th. See the attached document found in the download section below for more specific details.
9. Are you in need of Food Support? Check out the Food Support Resources 2021-2022 document in the download section below to find locations and times for specific food support.
10. You can receive 4 free COVID-19 home test kits per household using this link. https://special.usps.com/testkits
11. COLD WEATHER WARMING CENTER: A Warming Center is available in Greenfield at The Landing, 18 West South St. The Greenfield Christian Church (22 N. East St.) and the Evangel Church (1221 E. Main St.) will serve as backup sites, as will the Hancock Hope House. The Warming Center is for all individuals and families who may be without safe adequate heat. The Center will be open from 7pm to 8am on nights when the temperature is below 30 degrees or the wind child is below 20 degrees, with flexibility for things like precipitation.
Individuals wishing to volunteer at the warming center are asked to call Jim Peters @ 317-372-2304.
12. Latin Honors @ GCHS . . . . We have met with our GCHS staff, and now it is time to schedule our community meetings. In order to give everyone an opportunity to hear the presentation and offer their feedback, we have scheduled two forums: one in person and one virtual.
- The in-person forum will be Thursday, February 10th at 7 p.m. in the GCHS auditorium.
- The virtual forum will be Tuesday, February 15th at 7 p.m.
If you wish to attend the virtual forum, please email Mr. Cary directly to be added to the list. A few minutes before the forum starts, he will email out the link to the group.
These forums are open to any GC parent, student, or community member who wishes to attend.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you! Mr. Cary, principal - jcary@gcsc.k12.in.us
BinaxNOW™ Testing for Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation
Greenfield-Central will offer free BinaxNOW™ antigen testing for symptomatic staff and students. Asymptomatic (no signs of illness) individuals are not eligible for testing onsite at GC. Testing will be offered on Sunday, February 6th, and Thursday, February 10th.
Testing will be performed by trained personnel. Appointments are limited due to staffing and supply constraints. There is no cost for the test, and health insurance information is not collected.
In order to be eligible to receive a free BinaxNOW™ test, the staff member, or parent/guardian, must click on the corresponding link below to select and register for a test. If the testing slot is full, you will receive a message stating that the form is no longer accepting responses and to please check another time slot. If all time slots are full, consider reaching out to community testing sites or your healthcare provider.
A parent/guardian need not be present at the time of testing, but they must complete the registration and consent form. The links below will direct you to the registration and consent form. A parent/guardian may send a designee with their student for testing, or student may drive themselves, if they are able to do so.
Testing details:
Greenfield-Central High School, Door 29 - turn on Fieldhouse Drive from Franklin Street (between the Fieldhouse and the tennis courts). You may park along the curb.
If you arrive early, please stay in your vehicle until your assigned time. At your assigned time, you may come to Door 29.
A nasal swab will be performed and you will return to your vehicle. Results will be available to you in approximately 15 minutes. Please wait onsite for these results.
Those with a negative test may return to school as soon as they are 24 hours fever/vomiting/diarrhea free and their symptoms are still improving at that time.
Those with a positive test will be given a return to school date and an extracurricular participation date at that time.
If you register for a test slot and find that you are unable to make it to the appointment, please email health@gcsc.k12.in.us so that your registration can be deleted, making it available to someone else who needs it.
