June: Special Event
The knowledge based and globalized world of today is requiring our students advanced skills to succeed. 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD) helps teachers design lessons and learning activities to build students’ 21st century skills in any content area. How do we prepare for these needs as educators?
YOU ARE INVITED to attend this unique professional development opportunity with Lisa Simmons, Microsoft in Education Fellow, leading our 1-Day and 2-Day 21st Century Learning Design workshops. Go to OPSInservice to register NOW!
The 21CLD 1-Day workshop, June 12th, will be designed for curriculum supervisors, lead teachers, instructional facilitators, building leaders. This 1-Day workshop will give an introduction to 21st Century Learning Design. (Open to teachers after June 1)
The 21CLD 2-Day workshop, June 13-14th, is designed for K-12 teachers. This 2 day in-depth professional learning experience is to understand how to design 21st Century learning opportunities for students.
The 21CLD curriculum describes six dimensions of 21st century learning: Collaboration; Skilled communication; Knowledge construction; Self-regulation; Real-world problem-solving and innovation; and Use of ICT for learning, each of which represents an important skill for students to develop. 21st Century Learning Design builds on the research methodology providing a collaborative, practice-based process to help educators transform how they design enriching learning activities for their students.

With the school year wrapping up, I am so excited to celebrate the hard work our schools have done to teach students digital citizenship using Common Sense Education resources.
We are SO CLOSE to earning Common Sense District Certification! If you haven't yet had an opportunity to complete your application, you may do so online by visiting https://www.commonsensemedia.org/educators/certification-school.
Congratulations to the following schools who have earned certification as of May 8, 2017. The efforts you've made to teach your students to be safe consumers and creators of digital media speaks volumes! The extra focus on family and community outreach is an added bonus. Way to go!
