THE HATTER UPDATE (Jan. 14, 2022)
THE COMMUNICATION FORUM FOR HIGH SCHOOL FAMILIES
DAY OF REMEMBERANCE
The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. encompasses influential decisions, monumental actions, and steadfast progressions of humanitarian rights that surpassed just the civil rights movement. A leader of all people, Dr. King never chose fear, but always chose courage and determination when fighting for civil rights in the face of oppression, ignorance, and violence. He refused to allow prison, violence, or the threat of death to sway his end mission. Instead, he stood tall while striving towards his goal of rights for all and a more diverse America where all people enjoyed the benefits of equality. *COVID UPDATE*
The Hatboro-Horsham School District has communicated the recent changes in Covid protocols made public by the Montgomery County Department of Health on January 11. Those changes significantly change the process of identifying close contacts, contact tracing, and quarantine guidelines. You can find that guidance in the communication that came from the school district and will also be located on the district webpage. The consistent recommendation still remains, if your child is sick or has symptoms, please keep them home!
THE END OF SEMESTER I
COURSE SELECTION PERIOD
Grades 9-11 Course Selection for 2022-2023 School Year
Course selection is a critical step in the academic planning process. Hatboro-Horsham HS believes that accepting responsibility for decisions is an integral part of the educational and learning process. Course selection should be completed thoughtfully and carefully after realistic self-evaluation and considerable dialogue with teachers, counselors, and parents/guardians. We hope that in streamlining this guide, your child will be able to make informed course selection decisions based on career paths and interests.
Families can find the course selection guide here - https://www.hatboro-horsham.org/Page/768
COURSE SELECTION TIMELINE
I. Students will complete course selection between February 7 – February 16. Students will utilize the ClassChoice program to complete their selections. An email will be sent to students with more information.
II. Each student will have an individual meeting with their counselor regarding their course selections. Information for counselor meetings will be emailed to students in February. If the selections have been carefully made, changes should not be necessary, except in unusual situations. Students should make selections in the Feb 7-16 window.
Student choices will be made available for families to view through PowerSchool. Families will receive an email alert) in March that provides access. We cannot stress enough the importance of carefully considering and selecting courses during this time.
