Principal's Weekly Update
October 13th, 2023
Dear Parent(s)/ Guardian(s):
Madison’s many talents were on full display on Thursday night at the annual KARE Talent Show. Close to 30 students performed– the show featured singers, dancers, instrumental musicians, as well as martial arts displays and a comedy routine. What made me most proud was the way in which students in the audience were so super supportive of their classmates– cheering them on in the most exuberant and encouraging way possible. A special thank you to Jeanne Malgioglio and Nancy Yarmosh for organizing this worthwhile event, and for the help which Eva Santicapita and Deana Ebert provided on the musical front.
Earlier in the week some of our eighth graders enjoyed Makerspace activities in the Learning Commons. The Artie 3000 coding Robot, Snap Circuit electronics, card making, paracord bracelets, and more were just some of the provided maker stations– in this week’s insert photo above, Autumn Settembre is seen making the most of Makerspace.
Wednesday, October 18th is National S.A.V.E (Students Against Violence Everywhere)day. We are encouraging students and staff to wear orange in support. We will also acknowledge Bullying Prevention Month on this day. Students will watch a video in homeroom on the 18th about the importance of waving goodbye to bullying one “hello” at a time.

I may have started a trend with last week's newsletter. Perhaps inspired by the dramatic sunset photo which was featured last week, Intervention Counselor Lena Payne shared a stunning sunrise which she captured earlier this week, which is this week's big "photo finish" to the letter.
Well, it's yet another rainy Saturday-- we can't seem to shake this pattern of wet weekends (though tomorrow should be nice). The tradeoff, I suppose, is that we have had a whole lot of sunny and dry weather days during the school week. Because of this, students have been thrilled to run around and play in our courtyard during the second half of their lunch period. It provides a great break to the day and that fresh air goes a long way toward re-charging students for their afternoon classes. Students will make use of the courtyard on any day that the weather cooperates-- they will even continue to use it in the winter as long as there is no snow on the ground. I hope that you all are able to take advantage of a better weather Sunday before starting up the work/school cycle again next week.
Take care,
Peter Sullivan
