Landform/Geography

Hawaii is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii is also part of the pacific island called Polynesia. Hawaii is not in North America. The rain forest covers 40% of the island. Hawaii is south of the Tropic Cancer. There are only 3 other states that are smaller than Hawaii.

Recreation/amusment

In Hawaii, people go swimming. Hawaiian feasts are called Luaus. A popular dance in Hawaii is called Hulu Dancing. A lot of people like to go surfing. People like to go to Oaho and watch the Oaho valcanos. In Kauai you can hike and explore the Waimea canyon. In Lanai there are a lot of luxury resorts.

History

Hawaii has been a state for 100 years. Mark Twain sailed to Hawaii in 1866. The first people to come to Hawaii were the Polynesians. The Polynesians came to Hawaii from Tahiti. In 1898 the USA annexed Hawaii. The Polynesian came in large canoes to Hawaii. The first European to come to Hawaii was Captain James Cook. James Cook ships landed in Hawaii in the year of 1778. The Japanese sank the USS Arizona.

Fun Facts

People say it is supremely delightful in Hawaii. Some people call it the Aloha state. Honolulu is the largest city in Hawaii. Hawaii is more than 2,000 miles long. Hawaii is one of the island names in Hawaii. James Cook named all the island. Did you know Mauna Key gets snow. The grand Wailea hotel on Maui is a great vacation spot.
