Eagle Pride: Video by Dr. Patterson
March 2, 2019
Happy Saturday Eagles!
What an awesome week with amazing students and teachers! Congratulations to the Clyde Erwin Elementary School Battle of the Books Team! This is the first year Clyde Erwin has had a BOB team, and we were in third place at the competition. We only missed the finals by one point! Thank you to Mr. Smith, out Battle of the Books coach, and our team for working so hard and representing our school so well. We are proud of you!
We had another fun PBIS celebration on Friday, March 1. Congratulations to all of our students who worked hard to attend the "Movie and Popcorn" party! Thank you to Mr. Sanfilippo and our PBIS committee for their planning. Our next celebration is April 26, and we are always hopeful that 100% of students will be able to participate. Remember to SOAR in the hallways, classrooms, cafeteria, and all other areas of the school to join us for our next celebration!
Talent Show
Thursday, March 7, 5:30pm (Doors open at 4:45pm)
$5.00 admission
We are excited to have singers, dancers, gymnasts, a comedian, a magician, the Clyde Erwin Dance Crew, the Clyde Erwin Eaglettes Step Team, and a few talented staff members perform. Come out for an evening of fun at CEEMS! Pizza, popcorn, and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
Uniform Policy
We have been having some issues the past few weeks with students coming to school in jeans or other non-uniform clothing. Students are required to wear uniforms every day. The only days students are allowed to dress down are on advertised, school-wide dress down days for $1.00. Students who arrive at school dressed down will be sent to the office to call parents. If parents are unable to be reached, students will remain in in-school suspension. Our uniform policy is a county policy and enforced at all magnet schools, including Clyde Erwin, Northwoods, and New Bridge Middle School.
Reminder about our uniform policy:
Pants: Navy blue or khaki
Shirts: Polo style - Navy blue or white
Dresses (jumpers): Navy blue or khaki
Socks: White or black
**Leggings must be white or navy blue (no patterns)
**Brown or black belts
**Clyde Erwin Elementary spirit wear can be worn any day
Absences
We understand students must be out of school at times, and we definitely want students to stay home when they are sick. In order to decrease our number of unexcused absences, please send in a note when your child is absent. Sickness is an excused absence; however, we must have a note from a parent or doctor for the absence to be excused. Please send in a note every time your child is absent. Other types of absences, such as educational leave and absences related to deployment, must be approved ahead of time by the principal.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Free breakfast and lunch for all students ended on Thursday, January 31. If you have not filled out the Free and Reduced Lunch application, please apply today. If your student will continue to pay for lunch, please make sure money is on his or her account.
