First Week Back
September 8, 2019
Dear Charlemagne Families,
We hope you’ve been having a wonderful first week back to school!
As the kids are settling in and getting to know the routines of their new classrooms, we thought it might be helpful to share recess rules. Reviewing these with your child will ensure that everyone has a great time playing together during recess:

Our next event will be Curriculum Night on September 19, and we hope all parents can join us for this! The schedule is:
6:00 p.m. - Parents for grades 1-2
6:45 p.m. - Meeting for parents of all grades
7:20 pm - Parents for grades 3-5
Curriculum Night is a wonderful opportunity to meet your children’s teachers, share Charlemagne’s vision, and learn how we can all contribute to creating an enriching environment for the upcoming year. There will be lots of opportunities to sign up to volunteer, as well as learn more about our PTO committees, at Curriculum Night.
We also invite everyone to join us for our first PTO meeting on October 15 at 6:30 p.m. Your involvement is critical to the success of all our children, so we would love to have as many parents get involved as possible!
We are currently searching for parent volunteers to serve in the following capacities:
- PTO Class Representative for each class (you will inform your class of what’s going on)
- Readathon Co-Chair
- Library Volunteers (during non-class times; teachers will request volunteers for class-times)
- Soiree/Auction team members
- Sign making for events
- SWAG coordinator (order and sell Charlemagne gear throughout the year)
Please consider one of the above positions to help support your child’s school! If available, email frenchiepto@gmail.comand indicate what position you are interested in. With everyone pitching in, we can continue to create an amazing environment for all our kids!
We also wanted to let families know that the PTO work space has moved. Our dedicated work space will now be in the copy room across from Mme. Sion’s classroom. You will find two tall wood cabinets nearest the windows full of PTO supplies. We have some fun new art media for sign making.
Lastly, in the interest of keeping our newsletters shorter and more accessible, we will be creating a dedicated page on the Charlemagne website for after-school activities. This will enable families to click on one link to learn more about golf, Coyote Kids, tennis, chess, Young Rembrandts, Science Club, 4-H, ice skating and more!
