Greenlodge Weekly Update 1/13/2022

Dear Greenlodge Families,

I hope you are all having a nice week and enjoyed the snow day last Friday. I know my own children were happy to see a nice, white, blanket of snow on the ground when they woke up on Friday morning. Despite the very cold weather they enjoyed some time playing in it on Friday and Saturday. I know many of our Greenlodge students were happy to see the snow too!

As I am sure many of you saw yesterday, we will be sending out COVID updates on Wednesdays as a district, so moving forward, I will be sending our newsletter on Thursdays instead of Wednesdays in hopes of not clogging your inbox!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week and the upcoming long weekend. As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns you would like to discuss.

Notes From The Nurse

Many people in our community will be testing positive for Covid-19 in the coming weeks. We are relying on you more than ever to keep students safe and schools open.

  • Please–DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL WITH ANY COVID-19 SYMPTOMS! Even if they are vaccinated, symptoms require a test to return. Stay home and test by PCR/NAAT (preferred) or Rapid Antigen at a health office or at home. Send positive results to the school nurse for guidance.

  • All students must bring and wear a well-fitting mask. Please reinforce with your student to wear their mask over their nose and mouth. If students are unable to wear a mask correctly, they may have to complete a longer quarantine or isolation period if affected.

  • Please consider Covid-19 vaccination. It can reduce spread in the school and students are exempt from close contact quarantine/testing two weeks after the 2nd dose.

  • Isolation and quarantine must be a full five days. All students returning from the shortened quarantine/isolation must wear a mask at all times–indoors and out–unless eating or drinking for five days after return. See examples below:

    • If positive test date or onset of symptoms is 1/1/22 (day zero) you isolate five days after from 1/2/22-1/6/22, then return day six on 1/7/22.

    • If an unvaccinated student was exposed/close contact on 1/1/22 (day zero), they quarantine from 1/2/22-1/6/22, then return 1/7/22.

  • Vaccinated close contacts are not required to test/quarantine. However, if Covid-19 is spreading in your home, please be very cautious about sending your vaccinated student to school. Testing is the best way to ensure they are safe to return.

Dress warm! It's cold outside!

Weather permitting, we always try to get outside as much as possible during the school day. Please be sure to send your student to school dressed appropriately, with a winter jacket, hat, gloves or mittens and boots.
