THIS WEEK'S CALENDAR
LA TOUR MANDATORY STUDENT/PARENT MEETING
Thursday, May 23, 2019, 07:00 PM
2100 Summerfield Road, Winter Park, FL, USA
From Mr. Clemente
Congratulations to the 2019-2020 "Sound of the Wildcats" Marching Band on a successful Marching Band Mini-Camp this past weekend! I'm looking forward to next year, and anticipating great things from this group of students! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped serving pizza to the students each day - Lee McBurney, Natalie Storch, Melanie Dressler, Kim Schmitt, Sara Meyer, and an alumni volunteer Meagan McBurney.
Registration Forms: If I still have not received your registration forms for the 2019-2020 school year, please turn them in to the Band office ASAP! Also, if you know anyone, current or incoming student, who is interested in Band next year but hasn't registered, please encourage them to reach out to me. The more that our lists for the counselors and list for the drill writer are accurate going into the summer, the smoother the beginning of the school year will be.
LA Tour Families: This Thursday, May 23, is our Mandatory Student/Parent Meeting at 7:00 PM. It is essential that all students and chaperones participating in the trip and also at least one parent/guardian per student participating in the trip attend. We will cover many items for the trip during this meeting, all crucial to the success of the trip.
Dry Cleaning: If you have not turned in your student's dry-cleaned concert uniform, please do so ASAP. All non-LA Tour students must have their concert uniform turned in before the last day of school. Details for return of concert uniforms for LA Tour students will be given at Thursday evening's meeting.
As we close in on the summer break, now is a great time to look into summer music camp opportunities. There are many camps offered in the Central Florida area that will be highly beneficial to any student who attends. Camps around us include Stetson University, USF, UNF(new jazz camp this summer!), FSU, UF, among others. Students who participate in a summer music camp will receive a $50 credit to use towards their 2019-2020 Fair Share fees. Any interested students should see the posters on the outside of the Band room in the 600 building, and I am happy to answer any questions I can.
Our Color Guard needs your help! If you know anyone interested in joining the 2019-2020 "Sound of the Wildcats" Color Guard and Winter Guard, please send them our way. Current Band students who successfully recruit students for the Color Guard/Winter Guard will receive a $50 credit to be used toward future Band Fair Share payments.
Now is also an opportune time to begin with a private lesson teacher. Most teachers this time of year have more openings in their schedule due to graduating seniors no longer taking lessons. For a list of private teachers in our area, please see the Private Teachers page on the Band website.
Have a great week! Almost to the LA Tour and Summer Break!
