World Read Aloud Day at MVMS
Every February, classrooms, schools, and school districts all around the world celebrate WRAD in creative and exciting ways. Join the movement with your students and make sure to read aloud on February 1st, 2019.
Please join us on Friday the 1st during period 4 (or every period if you are so willing!) and read/ have a student(s)/invite a guest reader to read aloud to your class.
When?
Friday, Feb 1, 2019, 07:45 AM
Where?
Merrimack Valley Middle School, Village Street, Concord, NH, USA
What should you read aloud?
1. Subject-specific texts and articles
- Reading aloud can be both non-fiction and fiction!
- Reading content specific or scientific articles can be both educational and engaging. (Think about using Newsela, Grolier Online, FreedomFlix, ScienceFlix, or Opposing Viewpoints in Context (password: nhais) as your resources...we already pay for them!)
2. Amazing Picture Books
- No matter the age, picture books activate our imaginations and relax our brains. Let kids' minds escape the classroom and become immersed in a picture book!
- Please see Mrs. Searah or Ms. John for suggestions! We have some beautiful new picture books.
3. Writing done by individuals within your community
- WRAD is a great day to showcase the talents of the writers right in your community! Have students read their own short stories or poems aloud for an audience!
