Happy Summer Penngrove Families,

We are ending the year with an exciting announcement for our community! Drum roll please...

Introducing the additional NEW Penngrove Elementary playground, scheduled to be installed during Fall Break 2021!

This huge project would not have been possible without the support of the Petaluma City School District, the #PennPTA and, most importantly, our amazing community! Thank you to everyone who raised funds during the Jog-a-thon, purchased bricks and supported our tie-dye t-shirt sales. We also owe a special thanks to the Penngrove 6th grade students from the Class of 2020 for donating a sizable portion of their class funds to this project. Combined together our dreams of "Letting the Panthers Play in 2021" are coming true!

We look forward to sharing the details as we get closer to construction! Thank you the MANY #pennpanthers who weighed in on the design and options for equipment.

Happy Summer! WE DID IT!

Amy Fadeji (Principal) & Melissa Morelli (PTA President)

Thank you to #PennPTA for the End of the Year Fun!

Since we weren't able to plan a school-wide end of the year celebration, the #PennPTA voted to provide each teacher with $5.00 per student to use on a small group celebration. It has been awesome to see what everyone has created! From mini-field day, to custom t-shirts, to lots of yummy snacks. We hope that your #PennPanthers enjoyed the extra fun sending them off to summer!

    PCS Update for GATE Testing

    GATE Update May 2021

    Hello PCS Third Grade Families,

Every year our Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) identification cycle occurs in winter and early spring. The cycle for GATE identification consists of a cognitive abilities screener assessment, identification and recommendation of gifted and talented students, and parent confirmation of their student being identified as GATE in our district. This year, our cycle has been interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The testing process requires that we test all students in person. Given the restrictions that have been and continue to be in place, we have postponed GATE testing in our district to the Fall of 2021.

When we return in person this Fall, we will test our current third-grade students (who will then be fourth-grade students) by September 30, 2021. We will complete identifying GATE students from the Fall testing and notify families of the results.

In February and March, we will shift back to our normal cycle of testing the third-grade students (who are currently second-grade students). We will review the results from those assessments to identify GATE students and share the results with families.

If you have any questions, please email Jason Sutter, Director of Educational Services

We hope this ATWW gives you lots of ideas for summer time fun!
