Teacher Meet and Greet TOMORROW - 1st - 5th Grade Teachers - 3:30-4:30
A few important points to communicate about this event in anticipation of tomorrow:
1) Some rooms may not be completely finished, as teachers still have a few days to get ready for the first day of school. Please "pardon our dust" as we continue to put final touches on our building (LMC included) to prepare for students on August 22nd.
2) Each teacher will structure this time as they choose, with the collective goal of getting our students to feel comfortable and excited to start the school year.
3) Please remember this event is for your child(ren) to meet their new teacher. It is NOT a time to conference with your teacher or discuss private and confidential information - there are other, more appropriate opportunities for those conversations to take place.
4) Mrs. Kerner (our librarian) will be on site in the LMC to show off our new library space and SMART Lab. Mrs. Gutman (TAP/Gifted Teacher) will be in her room (Room 21) to meet her families. And, Ms. Epton and Mrs. Vanden Heuvel (resource teachers) will be on site to visit with their students and families. Please note that not all staff will be at Walden at this time, and you will have the chance to meet everyone at Open House on September 1st.
5) The PTO will be on site selling Walden Wear items. Feel free to peruse their inventory and purchase items as you wish (cash or check only)!
First Day of School - Morning Line Up
Please see this document to see where each grade level will be lining up in the mornings. At each of these doors, there are painted yellow lines on the blacktop designated to each class.
As a heads up, primarily for our K-1 and new families, the first day or two during “morning line up” time is quite hectic. We have many parents on the playground area who are wishing their children well on the first days of school. For the first day or two, we believe this is fine. And, to help you manage the crowds and find your teacher on Day 1, each teacher will be standing at their line holding a sign with their name on it. However, throughout the year, we are respectfully asking that you remain off the playground area and away from your child(ren) between 8:25 and 8:35.
At 8:35, our first bell rings. Students know (or will be taught) to make their way to their class line. Each entry way (from this document) will have an adult supervisor greeting your child(ren) and getting them into our building for the start of school by 8:40. When parents stand in line with their kids, it reduces the independence that we want/need them to gain and it causes distractions for the supervisors who are working to get the kids into the building safely and on time.

Road Construction and Busses - 2nd Posting - UPDATED
- We expect bus delays during construction. Students will never be marked tardy if their bus is late to school.
- As communicated in Cathy Kedjidjian's email, please use this form to express a safety issue with your bus stop. Please do not contact the office or me - we won't be able to help you, as these decisions are made by our Transportation Department at the district office.
- Especially during construction season, we strongly encourage those who are bus riders to ride the bus! It will make our parking lot and the streets around our school safer.
- Kindergarten and 1st graders students need to be met at their bus stop in order to be let off the bus after school. K-1 students will not be permitted off the bus unless a parent/guardian is present at the stop or in sight of the bus driver.
