I want to take a moment and provide you with a list of who to email when you need to reach out to someone at LAF. This year, in particular, there is an uptick in email messages. I completely understand why, and I know it is easiest to just email the teachers with every question. This understandable uptick is impacting the teachers' planning time which is used to prepare lessons, reach out to parents, grade assessments, and classwork. Please add these names to your address book to help manage sending emails. Perhaps adding identification tags such as "medical", "attendance", etc. will assist you in pulling up these addresses quickly.
- Attendance (late, clarification of attendance coding, unverified alert) - Elisabeth McHugh emchugh@chatham-nj.org
- Medical (COVID, not feeling well, quarantine questions, injuries) - Sally Kelly sally.kelly@chatham-nj.org & Kate McRoberts kmcroberts@chatham-nj.org
- Change of Dismissal (email only) - Elisabeth McHugh emchugh@chatham-nj.org and Jill Citron jcitron@chatham-nj.org
- Chromebook Support - Please click here and fill in this form.
- Virtual For A Day or Two - Input into the Parent Portal. Teachers receive a comprehensive list each day of virtual students. All students know what to do when they are virtual.
- Moving to Everyday Virtual Instruction - Please click here and fill in this form.
- Returning to In-Person Instruction - Please click here and fill in this form. Please note that we are no longer require 30 days notice. Please provide at least 72 hours' notice.
Lastly, seating is a challenge this year. Seat changes are planned ahead of time and take into consideration a host of factors. Please refrain from reaching out to the teacher when these changes are made. Not everyone can be in the front of the room (There are only four seats in the front of the room.) The teachers have become very savvy at making sure kids can view what is being presented regardless of where their seats are in the room.
I appreciate your attention to this information as we work together to navigate the rest of the school year.

Introducing LAF's Annual Read A Thon
The Read-a-thon is like a jog-a-thon, except your child will be reading books instead of running laps, and earning pledges based on how much they read. Pledges can be made for a fixed dollar amount or for how much they read. Everything is tracked online, which makes inviting sponsors and logging reading much easier! It’s a great way to encourage your kids to read while raising money for great causes! The Read A Thon begins March 1, 2021 and ends on March 31, 2021.
Next week, your child will receive all of their login information. Please be sure to LOG IN with your child at home so they can track their minutes and invite sponsors! Look for a BLUE Read A Thon Login sheet next week. Virtual students will receive their information via email.
Your child will not be able to invite any sponsors without your authorization. In order to authorize your child's account, simply have your child log in and hit the “Invite Sponsors” button, then follow the parent authorization instructions.
Our goal is to reach over 500,000 minutes read to beat last year's record! Weekly goals and school wide prizes each week such as PJ day, Crazy Sock Day will be announced each week.
This year we are very excited to donate part of the proceeds to: Helping Hands of Chatham
This organization is a group of Chatham residents raising funds to provide grocery gift cards for local families in need during the coronavirus shutdown.
For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HelpingHandsofChathamNJ/
The LAF PTO will receive the other portion of the proceeds.
Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely,
Kara Sibilia (kara.sibilia@yahoo.com) and Kelly Sachs (ksachs10@gmail.com)
