Instructional Model Feedback Surveys
At the elementary school level, we received 288 survey responses (with 2.1% of feedback coming from students). Positive feedback highlighted the role of live teacher and peer interaction, the inclusion of hands-on learning strategies, the focus on social/emotional health, and consistency across the instructional models. Feedback also noted concerns about too much screen time for students, challenges with keeping students engaged in learning, necessary for parent support (including obstacles for working parents), and prior difficulties with the Seesaw learning platform.
At the middle school level, we received 160 survey responses (with 4.4% of feedback coming from students). Positive feedback highlighted appreciation for scheduled and live classes, flexibility between the instructional models, the simplicity of the two cohort approach, and the adjustment of the academic calendar to quarters. Feedback also noted concerns about students congregating during arrival and dismissal, a lack of electives, the need for students on IEPs, and the importance of building relationships.
At the high school level, we received 192 responses (with 20.3% of feedback coming from students). Positive feedback highlighted the inclusion of live or direct instruction, interactions with teachers and peers, the structured approach to the schedule and the "house" rotations, the use of A-F grading, and the inclusion of Comprehensive Distance Learning throughout the year. Feedback also noted concerns about safety and logistics, the importance of being at school with teachers/peers and in-person learning, and how to incorporate AP classes into student schedules.
Please stay tuned for additional opportunities to share your feedback in the weeks ahead!
