SCHOOL-WIDE T-SHIRT ORDER!
Silver Springs Families~
Last week, we asked all students to submit designs for a school-wide t-shirt contest! These t-shirts can be worn at all school-wide assemblies, class field trips, Leadership Day (December 6th) and on NEST days (Neighbors–varying aged students, Enthusiastically Synergizing Together).
To express our school unity, we are hoping that every student and staff member order one t-shirt to be worn on the days listed above. These t-shirts will be used for the next two years, so please order the size accordingly.
ORDERS AND PAYMENT OF ONLY $5 ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 22nd. The T-shirt sizing chart is listed below for your convenience. If you have any questions or if ordering this t-shirt presents a financial hardship for your family, please contact Tanya Murphy at murphyta@northvilleschools.org in the front office for assistance.

The Silver Springs Eagle has landed...
To celebrate the diversity at Silver Springs will have Multi-Cultural Leaders from around the world share about different cultures that are represented by students here at Silver Springs. The first stop is Germany to celebrate German American History Month.
Check out the video below by our first Multi-Cultural Leaders, Janos, Emma, and Laura. They share some awesome information about their home country Germany.

Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit 5– Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
Great Books for Habit #5-Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Alejandro’s Gift by Richard E. Albert
The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
Jamaica’s Find by Juanita Havill
