STEAM Throughout Brooklyn
Pre-K Pre-K classes are working on engineering in their All About Me PLTW module. They used blocks to make homes for their favorite animals. | KG Kindergarten learned to build people from shapes. Some students used the document camera to project their creations, showing the classroom how to build their form! | 1st First graders worked in teams to build the tallest structure using pieces of pool noodles and toothpicks. They used their STEM skills and created some tall structures; we had a couple teams build a base to help their structure be stable and tall. This was a great way to start the year! |

2nd Second grade began their first PLTW Module: Properties of Matter. They are learning everything around us is made up of matter and takes up space. They discovered that color and texture are two properties that distinguish matter. | 3rd Third grade is working on life cycles and survival. In this module, they will develop models to describe organisms that have unique and diverse life cycles, but all have birth, growth, and death in common. | 4th Fourth graders are excited to be back in the STEM labs as they started their first Project Lead The Way Module: Energy Exploration. Pictured here, they physically became a complete circuit. The class used an energy stick that only worked if everyone was connected by hands. |
