Andrew good or bad Jackson
Indian Removal Act
The Indian removal act allowed the u.s. government to "exchange" land with the natives, but the natives didn't know that the land they were getting was less desirable ,and was west of the Mississippi river. Andrew Jackson then made this a law because it gave him more money and opportunities. This soon led to the trail of tears.
Trail of Tears
The trail of tears was when the cherokee tribe was being kicked out of their home by the u.s.government. Only because the government wanted more land because it would bring more money. The land was known as the Cherokees country and the Cherokee were moved to Oklahoma.
Nullification Crisis
The Nullification crisis was caused by two tariffs, the tariff of 1828, and the tariff of 1832. The south was very mad about the tariffs. South Carolina was so mad they threatened to secede from the union if the federal government interfears with the nullification. Congress passes the force bill to make South Carolina pay taxes.
Jackson cartoon
The cartoon shows these men carrying a casket which represents free trade. They are going to bury it because there is no longer free trade,(it is dead/gone)
Poor farmer (positive)
Dear Editor,
I am so happy that Jackson is our president! He moved the Indians so now we have more land, and he took them so far away we dont have to worry about them anymore. The thing i am most happy about right now is the expantion of suffrage which gives us normal white men the right to vote.
Cherokee (negative)
Dear Editor,
I am very angry at Jackson. He has taken our land from us just because he wanted more land, and he moved us into the middle of nowhere. My people have died on this jerney and we are not happy with our new land.
