Weekly Message
I spent Saturday planning our Thanksgiving meal with my husband. This is tricky with a new vegetarian in the house. We had fun shopping together and getting new meatless menu items. Preparing for thanksgiving always gets me thinking about the things I am thankful for. At this time of thankfulness, I find I am very thankful for a two-day week! I am also thankful to work with a staff who is so grounded and takes care of one another so well! I've seen multiple examples during data teams of people being willing to switch support times or people to help one another out. As a staff, you've been through a lot this year and in years past and still you pull together in tough times. Lindsay and I are so honored to be able to work with you.
There will be no Saturday Scoop next week. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday.
Just a heads up that we will do another thin slicing in January to check in on our goal and see how our students are growing. Thanks for letting us learn with you!
Warm regards,
Jennifer and Lindsay
Data Teams and Leadership Learning Walk - THANK YOU
During data teams, we were so grateful to be able to visually see where all of our students are and chart their progress. Thanks for helping us find out more about our students as learners. We are still digesting the information we gathered, but we were so thankful to be able to uncover the ways in which we can support you in the great work you are doing with kids.
Thank you so much for opening your classrooms for leadership to do our learning walk on Monday. We were able to find so many footsteps of our teaching in the physical environment of the school as we studied it through the lens of Math, ELA, and SEL. We saw strong visuals everywhere we went. Although math wasn't the lens I was using to look through, I was especially gratified to see the math work that is going on everywhere. I've pulled out some celebrations to share:
1. We have strong visuals and learning spaces.
2. Our classrooms have libraries that are organized.
3. We have thought provoking math work happening across the building.
4. We have visuals reminding students of expectations in classrooms and in common spaces.
5. We have language supports such as sentence frames for students to reference.
Check out all of the photos that were collected here.
