Mount. Rainier
Mount Rainier is one of the most dangerous volcanos in Washington. It has one big eruption every hundred years, it is constantly oozing lava, and on top of that it has lots of snow covering its sides and has constant avalanches. You can see it from the top of the Space Needle. It is a known place, and the surrounding town of Seattle has a population of 620,778
Mount Rainier is the highest volcano. It can be seen from Portland, Oregon and Victoria, British Columbia. It has 26 major glaciers, and snowfields. Mount Rainier doesn’t have just one volcano but two Volcano's! It is on the margin of the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate. Mount Rainier is a stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Its early lava deposits are estimated at more than 840,000 years old and are part of the Lily Formation.
Mount Rainier is an active Volcano, however they is no evidence that it will be erupts in the near future. If Mt. Rainier were to erupt as powerfully as Mount St. Helens did in its May 18, 1980 eruption, the effect would be greater, because of the far more massive amounts of glacial ice locked on the volcano compared to Mount St. Helens According to USGS, about 150,000 people live on top of old lahar deposits of Rainier. Many people also go hiking around this area and 10% of the people don’t make it back. Overall Mount Rainier is one of the most dangerous areas from having two volcano that could erupt at any time and having glaciers and heavy snow that can be dangerous.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
The tectonic activity is caused by convergent boundaries. These include a thin, dense oceanic plate called the Juan de Fuca Plate. The other plate is called the North American plate. This is a subduction zone which can cause large earthquakes. Mount Meager and Mount Garibaldi are in a line of volcanoes in the Cascade Mountains. The divergent boundary has the Juan de Fuca Ridge. This is an underground mountain range. The Queen Charlotte Fault is on the North American Plate and is a strike-slip or transform boundary.
This is one of the most dangerous places in the world. This is because there are convergent, divergent, and strike-slip zones. There have been earthquakes and volcanoes in this area. In October a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit the area. No injuries or major damage was reported. It was only the second earthquake to hit the area since 1949. This happened because of the Queen Charlotte fault.
Chengdu China
This province is close to a geological fault line. Chengdu, china is on the Eurasian plate and it is on a divergent boundary, they are moving apart. A Columbia scientist said that the earthquake was triggesssssred by a four year 320 ton dam that was built close to the earthquake geological fault line.
This place is most dangerous because of the poor building People did not have access to telephones due to the falling of the telephone towers, landslides, power outages. I hope you liked my paper.
structure and 20 percent of the primary schools may be unsafe. On May 12, 2008, a 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit this province. Seventy thousand people died and 13,000 are missing due to this earthquake. It damaged homes, schools, offices, killed people that were inside the buildings due to the structure falling and crushing the people. Eighty percent of the buildings fell near the epicenter.Anchorage Alaska
This is the 2nd largest earthquake ever recorded in the world after chills earthquake in 1960. This earthquake lasted 4minutes, causing landslides and avalanches. Aftershocks lasted well over a year. Major cities. The numbers of deaths were 143. This death toll was extremely small due to low population, time of day, and was good Friday, a holiday. Most of the lives lost was mostly the effects of water waves. More than 80% of the Yukon is stills wild, with majestic mountains, glaciers, rivers and wildlife.
The Yukon is home to a vast region of volcanoes, 452 to be exact. This is the result of movement and collisions of lithospheric plates. There is a fault between the pacific and North American plate this is also part of the Ring of fire . so it makes it a very dangerous place to live.
