SMART Board Games with Katie Morrow, ESU 8
Grant Elementary, 1106 Phillip Ave - Lori Coffin's room
Access to SMART Notebook software can be even more powerful than teachers know. Add variety to your classroom engagement methods and turn your SMART Board into an educational games console. In this hour-long workshop we will begin by exploring teacher-made games available on the SMART Exchange. Then we will take a look at how to use SMART Notebook's Activity Builder to build your own. Finally, we will try out the ready-made customizable classroom games in the SMART lab- some of which require student interactivity via their own devices, others that do not. Regardless, all should leave with a handful of SMART Board instructional activities that can be used with any classroom content for ultimate student engagement in tomorrow’s lesson. Note: Bring a laptop with SMART Notebook installed to take advantage of hands-on work time.

Flexible Seating Panel Discussion
Middle School, 1221 N. 1st Street - Melissa Dinkel's Room
You may have noticed a trend happening. Some classrooms look more like Starbucks or Panera Bread than the traditional classrooms we grew up in. The movement is called flexible seating and we are starting to see those options introduced in our very own district. Join us on December 5 to hear from NPS teachers who are giving flexible seating a try. Panelists will include:
- Melissa Dinkel, MS
- Connie Haglund, 3rd Grade Bel Air
- Kelly Mitchell, 4th Grade Jefferson
- Shelly Schnoor, JH
This session will be held in Melissa Dinkel’s room at the MS so that you can experience flexible seating for yourselves. Come with your questions for our panelists.
