Star Qualities
January's Top 20 focus was about EQ and Star Qualities – becoming a successful person and building star qualities (personal strengths).
First grade teachers along with fifth grade student council made a video that explained how they use their star qualities. We had special guests join us to help with the message! School resource officer Stockie and officer Troy with K-9 Norman came and talked about how they use teamwork for one of their star qualities. Thank you for joining us!

Learning and Leadership for Early Release!
At our January Early Release paraprofessionals participated in trauma-informed training led by our very own school psychologists Ms. Susag and Mrs. Enebo. During the second half of the training, Mrs. Lucus, who is one of our outstanding intervention paraeducators guided our paraprofessionals through Heart Word Training. Heart Word Magic is a complementary teaching tool designed to help students learn to read and spell high-frequency words, particularly those that aren’t very decodable. We call high-frequency words Heart Words because they are the first words students should learn "by heart." All teachers and specialists met to build common summative assessments reviewing the essential skills that each student is expected to master at grade level!
It was a GREAT learning experience! Learning, Learning, and more Learning!
5th Grade - DMS Transition
Students will be testing out instruments with Eckkroth music February 14 and 15th to decide which instruments they would like to play. There will be a letter coming from Mrs. Olson (music teacher) regarding their choices.
Message from Mrs. Northrop - School Social Worker
Hello Lincoln Families,
I wanted to share a new resource I found that may be helpful to parents and families. Common Sense Media is a website for parents and families, educators, and advocates. The reason why I am sharing out about this site is that is it very user friendly and has content for what “Parents Need to Know” in the specific age group(s) of your children on a variety of topics. The site has information about Social Media, Privacy & Online Safety, Cellphones, etc… and a “Parents’ Ultimate Guide” to online games and apps such as SnapChat, TikTok, YouTube, Roblox, as well as Parent Controls and more.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me at (701)456-0014.

Lincoln's Health and Safety Plan
The ND DOH recently updated their Covid-19 Childcare & School Attendance Guidance. This document is an excellent resource for identifying signs of infectious illness. You are the expert when it comes to your child, and we appreciate your assistance in working with us to keep our schools safe and open.

This handy chart may help!
Parent Communication
Communication between home and school bears great importance so we ask that you please join us on the Seesaw Family App and keep watch for emails.
Messages are available on both mobile and desktop.
SEESAW allows students and teachers to communicate with parents in real-time and allows parents the flexibility to see what is going on in the classroom on their time.
We look forward to staying connected and nurturing our relationships throughout the year.

Safety Drills
Keeping our schools safe is our #1 priority. We will be working with students to practice fire drills, tornado drills, and safety lock-down drills. We do this as a measure of practicing safe routines in the event of an emergency.
Sometimes these drills can be unsettling for students so please reassure your child(ren)that practicing is important.
