☘️ Welcome to March 2024 ☘️
Happy March!
It is hard to believe we are getting to the end of 3rd quarter. Starting tomorrow, students will take quarterly benchmark assessments in ELA and math so talk to your child about doing their best. We want all students to be celebrated in our "woot, woot" party. All students meeting 60% and above in proficiency will get to join in the celebration. All students can accomplish this if they stay focused and take their time!
This Friday kicks off the month of March by having our Courtyard Announcements led by our 4th graders.
Then, we close out the quarter with lunch parties and the quarterly dance party. Talk to your child about how they will use their PBIS points to end the quarter on a positive note.
Also, toward the end of March, we have our annual Color Run! Look for the flyers to come home shortly. We need lots of parent volunteers so let us know if you can help. Ms. Smith is our Color Run coordinator through PTA.
March is a busy month, so mark your calendars to keep you up-to-date!
Lost and Found. Please check our lost and found by the cafeteria for lost sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. It is completely full. These items will be donated at the end of 3rd quarter if unclaimed.
School Quality Surveys. Please complete the SQS to provide feedback about our school. Check your email or ClassDojo for the link. Thank you for helping us improve our school.
6th Grade at Whitmore. Whitmore will have 6th grade next year. Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, Whitmore will be a PreK - 6th grade school. If you put in for open enrollment or the lottery for Dodge Middle School, check your ParentVue accounts as this is how you are notified. First round placements have been made. If this impacts your decision to stay at Whitmore, please use ParentVue to register your child as we will receive teachers based on student enrollment numbers.
Register for the 24-25 school year! All students must register for next school year. It takes just a few minutes and we are given teachers based on our enrollment numbers. If you have any questions, please reach out to our front office at 520-232-8000.
Magnet School Focus: The first and second lottery placements have taken place. Please check your email so you can register. Subsequent lotteries will run every 3 weeks through August 2024 or until seats are filled. Good luck!

Bus Riders:
All students who ride the bus must have and wear an ID to get on the bus at home and at school. Please ensure your child keeps their ID with their backpack and school items so they have it available daily. This is their ticket to ride!
Cell Phones:
Students often come to school with their cell phones. However, Whitmore has a policy for cell phone usage. Students are NOT permitted to video record or take pictures of students at any time. This includes the bus! Once students arrive on campus, phones are to be turned off and kept out of view in a backpack. Phones shall not be turned on at any time. Students violating the policy may have the electronic device confiscated and be subject to disciplinary action.

🗨️Counselor's Corner💭
Mrs. Sawyer and Mr. C support our strong PBIS program at Whitmore. Through positive behavior, students earn points to redeem for rewards. Students have a menu of items to choose from weekly. Teachers nominate students who are rocking kindness, safety, and responsibility!
Ms. Sawyer and Mr. C also provide student check-ins and small group support. If you think your child would benefit from these services, please contact either or both of them through Dojo or by calling 520-232-8046.
Congratulations to Mrs. Yearego's 3rd grade class for being our "Cool Cat" Champions!
🧩C.O.P.E. Community Services🌎
This year Whitmore has a partnership with COPE Community Services. COPE provides individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and family support. We will have a recovery coach coming to Whitmore weekly to work with students who are enrolled with COPE. The recovery coach will be working with students on developing and practicing coping/social skills through individual and/or group support. If you think your family or child could benefit from these services, please contact Ms. Sawyer. This is a free family service provided by TUSD. If you have more questions or would like more information, please let us know.

TMC recently sold the dirt lot adjacent to our parent parking lot. This may affect our exit to our parent parking lot as well as temporary parking during pick-up and drop-off times. More information will come as soon as we receive more information on how this may impact our campus.
🚗Parent Drop-off and Pick-up🚘
Parent Drop-off and Pick-up:
Enter the parking lot from Glenn (this is an entrance only). There are two lanes. The right lane is a valet and keeps moving as students exit their vehicle curbside. All students must exit the vehicle curbside to use the valet lane. If that is not possible, please park and an adult will cross in the cross walk. Do not park in the right lane. You must use a space to park.
The left lane is not a drop-off or pick-up lane. It is used to park into a parking space. Please do not let your child exit the car in this lane. The adult (usually Mrs. Fig or Mrs. Madrid) will assist in merging traffic. Do not merge yourself. Continue forward until the monitor guides you. Driver speed should be at a minimum speed to ensure student, family, and staff safety.
