Planning a Party Project
The Work
2.Insert the data from the Y=kx+b equation in to a table.
3. The table is then put in a graph form.
4. When in graph form, they will intersect on the graph.
5. After intersecting, the line that continues to go higher is the better deal.
The Plan (food)
Pizza palace 1 person = $9.25 + 1 time fee of $61.25
Burger bonanza 1 person = $10 + 1 time fee of $20
I have put them in a Y=kx+b form
Pizza palace Y=9.25 x + 61.25
9.25 has taken the place of k. How ever many people you are calculating for you replace that number for x spot. 61.25 has replaced b because 1 time fees go there and not all problems have 1 time fees.
Burger bonanza Y=10 x + 20
10 has taken the place of k because that is were you put how much for 1 person. How ever many people you are calculating for you replace that number for x. 20 has replaced b because 1 time fees replace b because 1 time fees go there are some problems do not have one.
The Plan (bounce house)
I have put them in a Y=kx+b form.
Hoppin’ Around 1 hour = $75
Y= 75 x
75 has taken the place of k. How ever many people you are calculating for you replace that number for you x. In this equation, nothing replaces b because there is no additional fees.
Jumpin’ Jack’s 1 hour = $54 + set up fee $84
Y= $54 x + 84
54 has taken the place of k. How ever many people you are calculating for you replace that number for x. 84 has replaced b because 1 time fees go there are some problems do not have one.

Critically Thinking Questions
A.I put the data in a Y=kx+b form.
Q.1. Will there ever be a number of hours where both companies will cost the same? Describe the steps you would use and then solve for the number of hours for which both companies will cost the same amount.
A.Yes they will and the way you can find them is you put the data in a y=kx+b form solve it put in a table then convert table into graph and look if the lines intersect.
Q.1. If you only have a budget of $750 for the bounce house, how many hours, maximum, would you be able to have at the 7th Grade Blowout for each company? Can you have a decimal or fraction as part of your answer? Why or why not?
A.You could have 12 hours with Jumpin' Jack and for Hoppin' Around you could get 10 hours. No you could not have a decimal or fraction because they only charge solid hours.

Critical Thinking Questions
Q.Describe how you created each equation.
A.I collected data and turned it in to a y=kx+b form equation
Q.1. Will there ever be a number of students where both companies will cost the same? Describe the steps you would use and then solve for the number of students for which both companies will cost the same amount.
A.Yes you can put the data in a y=kx+b form next insert in to a table then put in a graph and look if the lines intersect. If the lines do then that is when the costs are the same for both companies.
Q.1. If you only have a budget of $1000 for food, how many people, maximum, would you be able to have at the 7th Grade Blowout for each company? Can you have a decimal or fraction as part of your answer? Why or why not?
A.The maximum would be 101 with Pizza Palace. The maximum would be 98 students for Burger Bonanza. No you can not write it as a decimal or fraction because you can not split food in 2.
In the end.
For bounce house, I would choose Hoppin Around because the pricing better.
