The Mustang Minute
Week of September 11th - 15th, 2023
Principal's Message
Mustang Family,
September 11th is a date that will forever be etched in the minds of Americans. Four years ago, our GHS Wrestling teams began a tradition to honor those who lost their lives on that tragic day, as well as the brave first responders who risked everything to save others. With the help of the Grapevine Police and Fire Departments, they created an event that pays tribute to the 110 flights of stairs that those first responders climbed in order to rescue so many in New York City. This Monday, September 11th, will mark the 4th annual 911 Tribute Climb at MPS, beginning at 7:30 AM. We encourage everyone in the community to come out and take part in this commemoration. A huge thank you goes out to Coach Ryann Martin and the GHS Wrestling teams for their dedication to honoring our country and its heroes.
On Wednesday, September 13th we will be announcing and unveiling to the public our National Merit Semi-Finalist. Stay tuned for more details about these announcements.
Tomorrow is our annual Open House / Greenback Night at GHS. We'll kick off the festivities with a PTSA meeting in the auditorium at 5:30 PM and will transition to our Open House/ Greenback Night promptly at 6:00 PM. This is when you'll have the opportunity to walk your student's schedule, meet their teachers, and learn more about their school day. Please be sure to write down or take a picture of your student's schedule if they are not going to accompany you that night. Also that night during 3rd period we will be conducting our annual one-time fundraiser- Greenback Night. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Let's have a look at what's in store for the coming weeks ahead, shall we?
Rah, Rah, Rah...Mustangs Fight!

We are truly touched that our Texas Grapevine school district friends are so kind to support our Maui schools even though we are separated by thousands of miles and an ocean away.
Above all, your generosity reflects the best of humanity-the expression of aloha and compassion we have for one another.

CONSTITUTION DAY 2023 September 17th
Did you know that September 17th is a special day in our country? It's Constitution Day - an important day set aside to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. GHS will celebrate the birthday of our nation's government on Friday, September 15th with wearing red, white, and blue. Constitution Day is intended to celebrate not only the signing of what is now the oldest written constitution of any nation in the world, but also the important ideals that set us apart as Americans. This weekend and always, we invite you to reflect with your student on their learning and, specifically, on their understanding of the U.S. Constitution and American citizenship.
Texas Election Code - Register to Vote
Texas Election Code Section 13.046 states that, “At least twice each school year, a high school deputy registrar shall distribute an officially prescribed registration application form to each student who is or will be 18 years of age or older during that year, subject to rules prescribed by the Secretary of State.”
In a continuing effort to promote the Portrait of Graduate attribute “Global Citizen” and raise awareness regarding voter registration, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will endeavor to inform high school students about the local voting process and promote the importance of civic engagement.
Texas Election Code mandates certain practices to ensure eligible high school students are given the opportunity to register to vote. Applicable resources and timelines have been compiled on this site.
