When Should My Child Start Preparing for College?
In GPISD, we believe it is never too early to start the college process. Because of the numerous steps and possible pitfalls, we recommend your child follow this timeline to have the best chance of getting into a four-year university and winning scholarships to pay for it: Click on the following link to view the timeline...
Tips for a successful STAAR testing week
1. Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep!
2. Make sure your child has a healthy breakfast!
3. Build up your child's confidence!
4. Support and praise your child for their hard work!
5. Leave a special note in their lunch box!
6. Celebrate when testing is complete!
How To Access Your Child's STAAR Scores
Did you know you can access your student's STAAR scores on the Texas Assessment Management Parent Portal?
Just go to their webpage, https://txparentportal.emetric.net
If you do not know your student's access code click on "Look Up Access Code" in blue beneath the login area. The PEIMS ID code is your student's state ID or Social Security Number without any dashes.
May Character Education: Trustworthiness
The mission of Galena Park ISD is to prepare students to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.
We feel that by engaging our students in exciting lessons that explore and incorporate higher level thinking skills, we can assure success for all of our students.
Please support our efforts by discussing and incorporating the monthly character education theme at home. The Character Education Theme for May is Trustworthiness.
Trustworthiness is keeping your promises, which is a great way to foster trust. People know you will follow through and do what you promised to do, so they will be able to put their trust in you. Always looking for a way out of what you promised will make people have less trust in you. If you want to be viewed as a responsible and trustworthy person, keep your promises.
Please take a moment to talk to your child about this month's character education theme and what it means to them. Administrators and teachers will be highlighting students who exhibit this character during the month of May.
