"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
October 14, 2016
Dear Auburn Families
We have had fun this week gearing up for Avondale's Homecoming! It was great to see so much Auburn Spirit. We hope you are also planning to join us this afternoon as we walk in the Homecoming Parade with our Auburn float.
In addition to Spirit Week, many of our after school events are also in full swing. Our Green Team is busy planning their first activity and Auburn Hills after school activities have been a big hit. Please be sure that your child is familiar with their after school routine at the end of each day and that a note is provided to your child's teacher should something change with that routine.
Another important after-school activity is making time for reading! We encourage our students to read with someone at home EACH night for 20 minutes as we know that this small step makes exponential gains in their love for reading and long-term abilities as a reader. Please remember to encourage and promote your child's responsibility for completing at home reading, math practice, or homework projects. Building good habits of planning ahead and putting first things first will serve our children well into the future.
Fall Parent/Teacher conferences are also taking place this month on October 27 and November 3rd from 4:30-8:30. Check out our Auburn Home page https://sites.google.com/a/avondaleschools.org/auburn/ or call our office to sign up for a time slot. We look forward to these important meetings.
Have a Wonderful Weekend,
Mrs. Hempton

Costumes at School - 10/31
Students are welcome to bring their costumes to school on Monday, 10/31. Please keep in mind the following building guidelines for costumes at school: We ask that children NOT wear costumes depicting violence or violent acts. This includes fake blood, gore or imagery that would not be "G rated".
Please leave all toy guns, knives and swords at home. Reserve elaborate costumes, face paint and make-up for trick or treating as these things can create a school disruption.
Halloween is an exciting time. Let's all help to make sure it is a safe and positive experience for the children while at school. Thank you for your support with these guidelines.
