YEARBOOK: SENIOR TRIBUTES
Good afternoon,
Class of 2022 parents. I am the Legacy yearbook adviser, and attached is the form for senior tributes. The deadline is Oct. 28. We usually sell out of space, so the tributes are sold in the order of who has turned in their photos, written message and payment. The tributes are sold online, so please be sure to get everything uploaded to the website.
https://www.balfour.com/missouri/kansas-city/staley-high-school
Beyond the space filling up, these tributes take some thought and effort tracking down photos and writing the message, so it might be worth starting on now. The tributes cannot be accepted in person. I have attached an examples from the last yearbook of each tribute size.
Also, if your child has not had their senior yearbook photo taken yet and does want a studio session, which also includes cap and gown photos, please contact Reed Portrait Group at 816-436-5550.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Cherié Burgett

COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVE VISITS
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
We are delighted to see we’ve already matched about 42% of ALL of last year’s circulation/checkouts. Our Falcons are reading – and they’re reading A LOT! We’re so happy to see empty shelves!
Additionally, we have been stocking our New Books section with a ton of great new titles. Please encourage your student to visit and check out something new today.
The Classics Book Club is reading Yann Martel’s Life of Pi and the YA Book Club is reading Angie Thomas’ Concrete Rose. Discussion meetings will take place over the next few weeks during Falcon Time. ALL students are invited to join in on our book club meetings!
The library’s Adulting 101 speaker series will continue with a “How to Get a Job” panel on Wednesday, 9/22 during Falcon Time. Local employers will give advice and tips on application and interview skills. Special thanks for Angela Brown and Corky McCaffree for agreeing to be on our panel!
Banned Books Week is September 27 through October 1. The library will be hosting contests and events throughout the week that celebrate intellectual freedom in our libraries.

NKCSD DISTRICT COMMUNICATION
Mask Requirement Communication on 7.29.21
NKC Schools families and staff:
Yesterday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas issued an emergency public health order requiring masks at all times indoors. This order impacts all individuals over the age of 5, regardless of vaccination status.
As a result, beginning Monday, August 2, masks will be required for all students, staff and visitors indoors at all NKC Schools sites. This includes all individuals; those who have received the vaccine and those who have not.
If your child is currently attending one of our year-round schools, summer Adventure Club programming or other indoor activities, please plan to send them to school each day with a mask to wear indoors. A back-up mask is also highly recommended. Additionally, masks are still required on buses at all times due to a federal mandate.
NKC Schools remains in close contact with our partners at both the Clay County and Kansas City Health Departments just as we’ve been all summer. We will continue to collaborate with local health partners to determine any other changes to COVID-19 mitigation practices before the school year begins August 23. We will also continue to provide updates and regular communication to you in this time where adaptability is required. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we continue to monitor the changing situations around us and adjust our practices to best serve all students, staff and families.
