Valley updates for the week of March 1-March 6
AcademicsSpring is almost here!! Tomorrow is an EVEN Black day. Spring Conferences will be March 2nd and March 4th from 3:45 PM-7:45 PM. Similar to Fall conferences, these will also be virtual. Students, at the beginning of the semester, I shared strategies on how to have a great semester. As we prepare for conferences, how is your academic performance?
This is a great time to assess how things are going and to make sure you are staying caught up in all your classes. We wanted to inform you of some important testing days coming second semester:

Last Thursday night we held the District Speech contest and 17 students + 1 VSW student all ranked "1", with several students performing in 2 events for a total of 22 "1" ratings! They are moving onto the State contest March 11 here at Valley! Congratulations to Valley's Jazz Bands! Valley Jazz Orchestra took 1st place and Keaton Clark earned the outstanding soloist award in class 4A from the Woodward-Granger Jazz Festival this weekend. Jazz Ensemble won the 2nd band division, and Steffen Poulsen was the outstanding soloist award in the 2nd band division. Valley Drama will be presenting BRIGHT STAR as this year's Spring Musical. Young Socialists is here to help VHS students learn about leftist issues and concepts. things like: Communism, Feminism, Anti-racism, LGBTQ+ rights, and more! Meetings are 3:30 PM Mondays in room 2349. Students interested in traveling to Europe should see Ms. Gray or Mrs. Romans for more information. |

Spring is almost here!!

- Are you communicating with your teachers?
- Are you staying engaged in your classes?
- Are you asking questions if you are confused or don't understand the content?
- Are you staying present the entire class period?
This is a great time to assess how things are going and to make sure you are staying caught up in all your classes.
We wanted to inform you of some important testing days coming second semester:
- Wednesday, March 3rd is ACT testing day for Juniors. Sophomores and Seniors will not report to school. They will have an asynchronous learning day.
- Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress testing (ISASP) will take place on April 19, 20 and 22.
