Mrs. Clark
Hello Winter...
Well so much for that mild winter everyone was calling for! I love the wintery mixes, building snowmen, and watching those big snowflakes fall from the sky! Hope everyone is staying warm and wanted to give an update as to where we were! We are on the home stretch to spring break, so let's finish strong!
Help...colored copy paper needed!
We make a foldable for almost every test. We are running very low on colored copy paper! We don't need card stock...just colored copy paper. We know color helps the brain remember, so help us learn our vocabulary!
Continue Working Hard...
We are continuing to focus on studying and completing homework on time. It is very important to check Blackboard and PowerSchool to stay up to date on your child's grades! We want them to be successful and together we can make this happen!
Bribery always works...Candy needed!
Our stash of candy is getting low! Help us stock the candy bin with some sweet goodies! Valentine's sale items are always great!
Time to Study!
Chemistry is one of the hardest things for most 8th grade students. You should be expecting your child to study science for 10-15 minutes nightly. There are review games posted to Blackboard, worksheets to review, and notes to review. Please help them learn good study habits!
TN Ready Testing
Due to issues beyond our control, the state assessments have been rescheduled and will now be paper and pencil. Because of this, test 10 will need to be moved. This means It is very important for students to attend all class dates before spring break. We will be doing test 10 sometime after March 3rd.
WonderWorks Field Trip March 9th
Students will be coming home with permission forms for their 8th grade field trip. Money will be turned in to me, their science teacher, All money must be collected before 3/4! This is a fun day for all students. If interested in chaperoning, please mark it on the form!
After spring break...
Looking forward to some warmer weather, but wanted you to know what you could expect after returning from spring break! We will have 2 unit tests left to take. Test 11 is a pretty tough test as it really stretches their chemistry knowledge with balancing chemical equations, the law of conservation of mass, and endothermic and exothermic. Test 12 is a bit easier as it explores acids and bases. We will then take benchmark #3 that will be over everything covered this entire year. It will allow us to analyze, on an individual level, what standards need to be reviewed, as we review for TCAPS. We will then take the state assessment that covers everything we have learned all year. Finally, we will finish the year with a post test. This test is given during the final week of school and allows us to compare to the pretest given at the beginning of the year for a true growth measure.
