LS Friday Update Week 17 - 12.1.23
Hour of Code, Day of Giving, Spirit Week, Concerts + More
HERE'S TO DECEMBER!
Thank you to all the parents who joined us today for Neon Merry & Bright flagpole! We had a great time sharing our HOPE mural and donations with Billy's Place, and celebrating the other amazing opportunities we've had on campus.
With only 2 weeks left, we thank everyone for getting your children to school on time every day, and staying the full day. We have multiple mid-year assessments coming up the next 2 weeks, and want to ensure we have collected all the data we can to prepare for second semester learning.
Don't forget that grades will be closing on Friday, Dec 15th @ 7:00AM. Be sure you are up-to-date with final assignment and unit project deadlines to prepare for final grades posting.
Keep reading for fun SPIRIT WEEKS, Hour of Code, Chick-Fil-A night and more!

DRESS CODE REMINDERS -
While we still experience hot temperatures this fall, we wanted to remind students and parents about the district dress code requirements for students. As listed in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook reviewed at the beginning of each school year, "Shirts and tops may not expose bare midriffs, bare shoulders, nor be deeply or narrowly cut in the front, back, or under the arms. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, and strapless tops are not acceptable. Clothing that exposes undergarments will not be tolerated for males or females."
This is also important to note for "normal school activities" including PE, where students are moving in a variety of ways and still expected to keep midriffs from showing. Please work with your child to plan outfits accordingly so they are dressed appropriately for school and the variety of activities throughout the day and week.
Thank you so much for your support!
REMINDER - NO OUTSIDE BIRTHDAY TREATS/FOOD POLICY
Office Support
Also-- no students will be released after 3:15PM from the office. If you arrive to pick up your child early to avoid traffic lines you will have to wait until the Kinder release (3:20) or 1st-6th release (3:30) to get your child. This minimizes classroom disruptions and ensures students are completing their full day of learning.
Students arriving for breakfast must enter through the front office and cannot arrive before 8:15AM. They must sit in the cafeteria for the entire breakfast period until 8:30AM bell rings to transition to the classroom.

BEFORE + AFTER CARE NEED HELP!
The DVUSD Community Education Department is hiring! Full and part time positions are available in our before and after programs as well as preschools.
Our Before & After Care program is required to follow DES guidelines for student-to-staff ratios. If we do not have enough employees, we cannot accept more students, impacting AM/PM care options for families.
If you are interested in working part-time (either AM, PM or BOTH), please contact Dina.Sands@dvusd.org or go to careers.dvusd.org to apply.
