Panther Press
for the week of November 13th
Message from the Principal
Attached to this newsletter is a copy of the board policy for time keeping. ALL employees are required to approve their timecards by 3 PM each Tuesday. All employees are responsible for reading and following the policy. A pdf of the policy has been emailed to all of you and hard copy will be sent to all employees today to be signed for.
Do to a recent enrollment, Mr. Cunningham has been shifted into Mrs. Channell's classroom. Besides the obvious adjustment to inclusion coverage that will have to happen in the coming weeks, it also means he is not available to cover classes should we have teachers absent without substitutes. All teachers are strongly reminded that it is their responsibility to get a substitute when they are absent. We have seen an increase in teachers absent so far this year and while we have been able to cover to this point, the new adjustment will require a different approach going forward. We have not been required to combine classes as a general rule so far but that will have to be looked at as an option as will teachers covering on their planning periods. To be fair, any teacher who is out without a sub will be in the conversation when it comes to teachers having to cover for those that are out. I strongly encourage all of you to have conversations with your colleagues to ensure that they get subs in a timely manner.
All teachers are required to have a substitute folder in their classroom complete with class rosters and emergency lessons. We understand that from time to time thing happen and a full blown lesson cannot be created to cover an absence so it is an imperative that emergency lessons are in the folder. We still have issues with finding enough substitutes and it really is not fair to any of your colleagues to have to create a lesson for your class when they end up having to cover.
All students are required to have passes when in the hall during class time. There is no exception to this. We have way too many students in the hall after the tardy bell and quite a few of them have been let out by teachers without a pass.
Please ensure you are monitoring your kids in the lunchroom not only when they are at the table eating but also when they are going through the line.
