Notes from Dr. Raeder
Hello Patriot Families,
Thank you for taking the time to attend conferences and meet with the teachers. Although we have the technology to help with communication such as grades being posted online, emails, and text messages, having a conversation with your student’s teacher is a valuable resource. If you were unable to attend conferences, you are welcome to set up an appointment to talk with your student’s teacher, counselor, and administration. We will be able to discuss what is happening with your student’s education and develop ways to help and challenge your child.
A special thank you to the LHS Parents for providing dinner for our staff during both evenings of conferences. We are appreciative of the support we receive from the Lincoln community.
At LHS, November is the Month of Caring. Our clubs and activities have worked inside and outside the walls of Lincoln High School to make our community a better place. WIN time classrooms are partnering with LifeScape this month to donate needed items to individual children. Lincoln families and student groups continue to shower love and items onto Club 17, which helps to provide for the needs our students have during the 17 hours a day when they are not in school. We have also added the Lincoln Food Pantry in partnership with Feeding South Dakota. This is a necessary service for some of our students and one that we see needs growing during the colder months.
Hello, Parents,
An exciting new attendance option within Infinite Campus called Absence Request Processor is now available to parents!
Absence Request Processor allows parents to log in to their Parent Portal account and submit absence requests for their students. Staff can then go into the staff processor side and approve/process these requests.
SALSA
Come join SALSA (Serve And Learn Student Association) as a great way to connect with opportunities to serve your community! SALSA connects high school students to engage them in volunteerism, giving them the opportunity to meet new friends, explore careers, gain leadership experience, earn volunteer hours for scholarship applications, and make a difference in their community. If you missed any meetings, you can come to the next meeting to help support Make-A-Wish and learn more about our next large group volunteer outing, with Kids Against Hunger and Kid Link otherwise known as a SALSA Wide Event, and other great individual opportunities!

Greetings!
We all know how difficult it is to find officials and we all know that we’ll see the same ones again this year and riding them doesn’t help. The number one reason officials leave the game is due to disrespectful behavior. Officials sacrifice time with family to help your son or daughter have a quality experience. Without the officials, it’s just recess! They will miss calls and they’ll make good calls, just like everyone in life, allow them to be human as well!
This is a real problem, but I think if we all help each other out, we can make it a little easier to retain officials. My expectation for every coach, player and spectator is to be respectful at all times. Yelling at an official and being demonstrative on the sideline or in the stands is not acceptable, control your emotions or they will control you. 99% of the time, everyone is great, we want 100%. Help each other out in the stands, remind each other to stay calm and set the example for the way we want players to behave on the court.
The purpose of our programs is to teach young people life lessons and help them become good men and women. Winning is a goal, an outcome rather than the purpose of our programs. Let’s not confuse our purpose with our goals. Let the players play, the coaches coach, the official officiate and let the spectators be positive.
Thank you all for working on this, I appreciate it very much!

Class of 2023 Senior After Graduation Party Planning Information
Seniors and Senior Parents and Guardians,
The Class of 2023 is about to begin their Senior year and before you know it graduation will be here. Plans are underway for the Senior After–Graduation Party. We are happy to announce that we have secured Air Madness for the night of graduation May 21, from 10pm to 5am. The last two years this facility has been used for the party and it has been successful, providing a safe environment, many activities, entertainment and food. Please visit our website (needs updating for 2023 class) www.lhsseniorpats.com to see some of the activities Air Madness has to offer.
To pull this together it takes time and participation. There is planning, fundraising and chaperoning.
One major part of fundraising is operating the concession stands at the indoor events at Lincoln. (Volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cheer, gymnastics….) The proceeds of the concessions will help offset the cost of the venue. As with everything nowadays we have seen a large increase in the per student rate. We have heard the biggest reason students did not register for the Senior Class Party was the cost per ticket. Therefore, we would like to keep the cost per ticket the same as last year.
Students, parents, families can work these shifts. Students can use their shifts in the concessions as volunteer hours for National Honor Society and other volunteer needs.
