Wk 6 Term 3 - Week Commencing Monday 22nd August
First Holy Communion
We keep in our prayers this weekend our Year 4 students who are receiving First Holy Communion. There are over 80 children from the parish who will receive the Sacrament of the First Eucharist this weekend across 3 Masses.
Choir & Dance Troupe
Best of luck to our Choir who perform this coming Tuesday 23rd of August, and to our Dance Troupe who perform on Thursday 25th August. The Choir perform at the Vasto Club, Balcatta and the Dance Troupe at the Perth Convention Centre. We thank staff, for their time and for sharing their talents, ensuring our students perform to the very best of their ability.
P & F Volunteers/Raffle
We have received an overwhelming response from parents expressing their interest to volunteer for upcoming events. May we take this brief moment to say, THANK YOU. For those parents who would like to contribute by way of a gift donation towards raffles/prizes, may we kindly ask that your donation is given on Friday 26 August, together with your completed Volunteer Form. The collection of all gift donations will only be done on that day. Many thanks again for your expression of interest to assist and your much-valued contributions
RAT Test Distribution
Today, the eldest child in each family (K-6) will be bringing home a box of 20 RAT TESTS today, for each child attending St Emilie's. These tests are compliments of the WA Government. An email went out to all families earlier today with more information pertaining to the distributions of these RAT tests.
Family Breakfast & VIP Experience at House Athletics Carnival
The family breakfast will be held on Friday 2nd September at school. Please see the note below for more details. For the first time ever, there will be a raffle offering a VIP experience at the House Athletics Carnival on the school oval on Friday 16th of September. Our P & F are an amazing team so please support the breakfast and the VIP experience.
OSH Bake Sale
Thank you to our families that contributed to or support the OSHC Club Bake sale today. The community response was overwhelming and we are very grateful for the support of a wonderful initiative brought to us by the OSH Club leaders, Alyvia and Jay. All proceeds will go to the Red Nose Appeal.
Respecting Agreed Start and Finish Times
A gentle reminder that supervision starts at 8.20am, so no child should be dropped off before that time. This is also the case at the end of the school day, supervision concludes at 3.20pm, and all children should be picked up by that time. Thank you for your cooperation.
Catholic Assistant Principal Conference
Mrs Tonkin and I will attend the Catholic Assistant Principals Conference at the end of next week. The theme for the conference is “iLead the Magic of Mathematics”. Mrs Harvey and Mrs Aroozoo will lead the school in our absence.
Positive COVID Cases
If your child tests positive to COVID, please ensure that you enter the result on the CEWA portal and also on the Health Department.
This week under the Parent Reading heading, we have included an Insights article titled, 'Parenting introverts and quiet kids' by Michael Grose. His article says that parenting introverts can be a challenge particularly if you are an extrovert yourself. Adopt the mindset that introversion is normal, indeed a strength, and put steps in place to help an introverted child feel both comfortable in their own skin and confident navigating the world at large.

Fuse Cup--Rocket League eSports WA event
Yesterday, our Year 6 Rocket League eSports team represented St Emilie’s Primary School in the Regional FUSE Cup event at the Methodist Ladies College. Zane, Thomas, Sam and Jiro have been giving up their free time for the last few weeks, to train together and practice their teamwork and mechanical skills.
Our students competed against the other schools in the Year 5 to 8 WA league, including Methodist Ladies College, North Harrisdale, St John Bosco, Kolbe, Calista Primary, St Mary’s and Corpus Christi College.
Our students performed amazingly, with both of our teams winning all 3 of their heat games by a large margin and moving on to the quarter final knockouts. We paused for a screen break and enjoyed spending time with the other schools on the fantastic MLC grounds in the beautiful weather as we ate some food and had a run around.
Returning to the competition, our teams won their matches and moved up to the semi-finals to compete for the podium places against the Corpus Christi College teams. Both teams worked very hard but eventually conceded their games and took out equal 3rd place overall.
Again, St Emilie’s have shown that we are strong contenders in the eSports space. This was an amazing achievement for our first year of competitions within the FUSE Cup. The students represented St Emilie’s in such a caring and kind manner, whilst performing at a highly competitive standard. We are so proud of their amazing work!

COVID-19 SYMPTOMS POST INITIAL POSITIVE RESULT
When an individual receives a COVID-19 positive result, the individual is deemed by WA Health unlikely to suffer from re-infection for a period of 4 weeks. Therefore, further Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) testing when subsequently unwell is not required during this time, as a COVID-19 positive result may be returned throughout this period while the initial virus is being shed.
However, where a person is unwell within their 4-week period and are showing symptoms of COVID-19, WA Health reiterate that the impacted person should remain home until symptoms subside, particularly where symptoms are respiratory in nature (e.g. productive cough).
All unwell COVID-19 symptomatic students should remain home and refrain from coming to school.
2. Please ensure you are emailing the class teacher along with admin, if your child is going to be taken out of school for an appointment early.

25th Aug (7pm- 8pm): Family & Domestic Violence
About Barbara Blayney, who is presenting the workshop:
Barbara joined the Archdiocese of Perth as Acting Director in 2022. Barbara has worked with the Safeguarding Program previously and provides insight into overseeing the implementation of the National Safeguarding Standards through policies, procedures, and practices. With a background in governance and human services, it is Barbara’s mission to help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive Archdiocese.
The Safeguarding Program aims to raise awareness of our collective responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults within the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth. The program is based on a fundamental belief that all children and vulnerable adults have the right to physical and psychological safety at all times. We aim to prevent harm within parishes and agencies by building a culture that promotes safeguarding, putting the needs and welfare of children and vulnerable adults first. We aim to ensure our church workers are informed and willing to commit to safeguarding our children and vulnerable adults. We aim to provide policy and practice to create a safe environment and where there is an avenue of responding appropriately to any concerns, complaints, or allegations of harm. http://safeguarding.perthcatholic.org.au/
