From the Principal

Hopefully this message finds you safe, well, and in good spirits. We found out today that our Lake Ridge Elementary PTA was deemed a School of Excellence by the National PTA. Even they recognize that “The Race for Excellence has No Finish Line” and noticed our efforts. Let’s keep it going! The start of the 2021-2022 school year is right around the corner, and we look forward to greeting families at the CHISD Back to School Rally this Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Valley Ridge Park (2850 Park Ridge Dr.). Here is how you can help us properly finalize our rosters as we approach the start of the 2021-2022 school year:

  • Complete the online registration for your child via the following link if you have not already done so: https://www.chisd.net/register; or
  • Email me at marquita.mccullum@chisd.net if your child will not return to Lake Ridge Elementary for the 2021-2022 school year. Be sure to include his/her first and last name.

Our Meet the Teacher event is scheduled for Monday, August 9, 2021 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.; however, those without a completed registration on file for 2021-2022 will be directed to a computer lab to complete the process.

During our Meet the Teacher evening, scholars and parents will have a chance to meet their teachers, drop off school supplies to eliminate this needing to occur on the first day of school, indicate the method of dismissal transportation, and receive dismissal car tags. Because scholar specific information is shared during parent-teacher conferences, conferences will not occur on this evening due to confidentiality. You will also have a chance to sign up to join our PTA and receive information from a few vendors who will be in attendance.

Make sure that you identify the correct school supply list for your child, and you are welcome to contact me to inquire if you are unsure. I am listing them below in the order they appear via the file:

  • ECSE (3 year olds)
  • ECSE (4) and Pre-Kindergarten
  • Kindergarten
  • 1st Grade
  • 2nd Grade
  • 3-5 Grades
  • SKILL (K-5)
  • Lower Elementary Montessori (1-3)/Upper Elementary Montessori (4-5)
  • Primary Montessori (PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten)

Be sure to keep the following dates(s) in mind:

Read on below to find out about information from our Counselor's Corner, upcoming events, attendance notes, arrival/dismissal procedures, and helpful resources/links.

Always remember that "The Race for Excellence has No Finish Line."

Question for You to Pose to Your Child: How can you begin the 2021-2022 with the right mindset?

Counselor's Corner

From Counselor Johnson

Counseling Services and Communities in Schools (CIS) are continuously looking for ways to improve the way we meet the needs of all scholars, and the feedback from parents, teachers, and scholars is critical. We would like your assistance in planning and developing programs by completing a school counseling survey. The survey is anonymous and will not require any identifying information. Communities In School will offer community services in conjunction with counseling services. We would appreciate your time answering the short list of questions in the survey below. Thank you for helping us better meet our scholars' needs.

Attendance

Attendance Notes

  • Notes regarding an absence must be brought to the office within three days of the absence; parents can also enter via Family Access. Notes should include the scholar's full name, date of absence, and signature/date of parent/guardian.
  • You can email Mrs. Castillo, Attendance Clerk/Registrar, at bonnie.castillo@chisd.net for any attendance questions or concerns.
  • If the method of your child getting home needs to change, notify the Main Office or your child’s teacher by 2:00 p.m. so that there is enough time to communicate the change to your child. If e-mailing the teacher, include an administrator in case the teacher is absent on that particular day.
  • 2:45 p.m. is the latest that a scholar may be checked out due to preparation for dismissal.

  • The latest time to check a scholar out via the Main Office is 2:45 p.m. After that time, please wait until the regularly scheduled dismissal.
