Cut By A Transversal
Transversal - When two lines are crossed by another line.
Vocabulary
- corresponding angles - When two lines are crossed by another line (which is called the Transversal), the angles in matching corners are called corresponding angles.
- alternate exterior angles- The pairs of angles on opposite sides of the transversal but outside the two line
- Same Side Interior Angles - are two angles that are on the same sideof the transversal and on the interior of the two lines.
- same side exterior angles- When a transversal intersects two lines, the two lines are parallel if and only if interior angles on the same side of the transversal and exterior angles on the same side of the transversal are supplementary
alternate interior angles
The pairs of angles on opposite sides of the transversal but inside the two lines are called Alternate Interior Angles.
Supplementary Angles
Two Angles are Supplementary if they add up to 180 degrees.
vertical angles
Vertical Angles are the angles opposite each other when two lines cross.
