Rose Lane Principal Letter...
Hello Rose Lane Families and Caregivers,
Welcome to the end of April and the last month of school! We are very glad to have reached this point of the year, which is typically very busy with wrapping up one school year and preparing for the next.
An example of this is our state testing - AzM2. As of today, we have finished testing 3rd and 4th grade students in reading, writing, and math. We will use this data to help identify any areas of unfinished learning, then develop plans over the summer to identify how to address those needs beginning with the very first week of school in August.
Families in Kindergarten, First and Second Grades: we will soon begin our MAP testing in math and reading. These tests are district-driven, but we will also use this data to better understand how to meet the needs of our younger students when we return. All in-person students will take these tests here at school. For families who are still attending virtually: your child will be able to take these tests from home, and it is critical that they do so without your assistance in answering questions. It is ok if students get some of the answers wrong, since this will help us to understand the need with more precision and accuracy. Thank you in advance for allowing your child to complete their MAP tests independently, so we truly can know what they understand and what we need to do to address what they don't. This also applies to our families of Third and Fourth Grades, whose MAP testing will begin later in May. Many thanks to Mr. Reyes for his thoughtful organization and planning for MAP testing!
We are very much looking forward to Junior Achievement Day on May 14th. This is a day-long event in which all students will participate in a hands-on curriculum helping kids understand the underpinnings of economics at the personal, local, state and federal level. Thank you, Mrs. Huyck, for organizing this event, including preparing the pick-up of materials to be used on JA Day by our virtual students.
We are also looking forward to our 2020-21 yearbook coming out, with much appreciation to Mrs. Ewald for being the driving force behind its design and production. We were also recently honored with an award in recognition of our outstanding performing and visual arts program! Please check out the article by clicking here. I'm so proud of Rose Lane's special areas teachers, including Mrs. Ewald, for the great lengths that they have gone to this year to support our students while keeping the arts alive. We have great staff at Rose Lane, in all grade levels and departments.
Finally, thanks so much to TEAM for all of your kindness and generosity to our staff, to recognize them for their outstanding contributions in our front office, as classroom aides, and in the classroom!
Please remember that we will continue to maintain our universal masking for the remainder of this school year, per our Governing Board! Best wishes for your safety, health, and well-being as we wrap up an amazing year!
Best Regards,
Rose Devine, M.Ed
