NURSE NEWS!
In the spring and fall, tree, grass, and weed pollens become airborne and can result in a runny nose, sneezing, and itchiness in the nose, throat, and eyes. What steps can be taken so allergies do not interfere with your child’s school, activities, or life? Understanding allergic reactions, minimizing pollen exposure, and considering allergy medication may help reduce symptoms of seasonal allergies.
If your child needs pain medication due to dental work (braces, spacers, expanders, tooth removal) please medicate your child before sending them to school and/or provide medication to be given at school. Thank you!
The health office is in need of clothing! If you have gently used pants with elastic waist bands (stretch pants or sweats) and shirts and would like to donate them to the school, we would gladly accept them. Looking for sizes extra small through youth 14, boys and girls.
Please visit https://www.westada.org/SafeReturn for the updated illness policy.
Upcoming Testing
Our students in kindergarten, first, second and third grades will continue to take their monthly IStation reading assessments in April and May.
Star PTO News!
The PTO is very excited to be gearing up for our FUN RUN FUNDRAISER. The official KICK OFF day is Monday April 11! You can register your students(s) for this NOW at mybooster.com. The MAIN EVENT will be April 21 or 22 (final schedule coming soon!). This event is a super fun lap run with music, dancing, and lots of encouragement! We will be looking for VOLUNTEERS soon, so keep your eyes open for that! Once you've registered your student(s),don't forget to share your donation links via e-mail or social media. Family and Friends from around the globe can pledge a flat dollar amount, or a "price per lap" pledge to support our school! Prizes earned by students, for pledges, will be handed out several times per week. Our goal with this fundraiser is to purchase a book vending machine, refresh the playground with some new fun items, provide buddy benches on the playground, and raise funds for field trips! There will be lots of communication during our two weeks of fundraising leading up to race day! Be on the lookout in your e-mail as well as your students' backpacks for information that will be coming home.
Reminder to join our private Facebook group-STAR ELEMENTARY PTO-PARENTS AND VOLUNTEERS. We have "Teacher Favorites" lists posted there, as we look ahead to TEACHER APPRECIATION week in May. We will also be posting Volunteer opportunities for Fun Run and Teacher Appreciation on that page.
Happy Spring!
