Veteran administrator Dunn will be Interim Principal at Dake

Veteran administrator Mr. Dave Dunn will be the Interim Principal of Dake Junior High School starting Thursday, Sept. 22. He takes over for Mrs. Maryanne Maves, who has accepted a job with the University of Rochester. Her last day is Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Mr. Dunn is expected to serve at Dake into January 2023 when a new Principal will take over following a comprehensive search process by the West Irondequoit CSD. He retired in June of 2022 after 45 years in education with the Fairport CSD. He started as a middle school mathematics teacher in 1977 and spent the final 27 years as the Principal at Martha Brown Middle School, which includes 700 students and 130 staff members.
“We thank Mrs. Maves for her service to our students and staff and feel very fortunate to have a leader of Mr. Dunn’s caliber and character in West Irondequoit,” said Dr. Aaron Johnson, Superintendent of Schools.
Mr. Dunn earned his Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from SUNY Oswego and his Masters degree from SUNY Brockport. He has won awards from the Urban-Suburban program, Monroe County Legislature (Youth Advocate of the Year) and WROC-TV (Golden Apple). He is also a member of the Fairport CSD Education Wall of Distinction and Alumni Wall of Fame.
